Looking to buy flat screen 1080p as stated above - know my choices are Plasma, LCD and rear projection LCD. Not interested in a 400 lb tube. What's the latest and greatest?

Right now LCD is it. 1080P plasmas are just now being released at CES. The smallest "rear projection LCD 1080P set" that I know of is the 50" SXRD but nothing smaller... yet.
I would pay attention to the CES reports to see what's coming.
If you want to buy now your options are fairly limited. If you want a name brand set then Sharp is pretty much it. The others like Westinghouse etc are not household names like Sharp, Sony, Panasonic etc.- Bottom

Yup, Sharp or Sony LCD's, Panasonic Plasma (though not currently 1080p) or SONY SXRD RPTV would be your best bet, though they're all still inferior PQ to CRT. SED is coming but you'll have to wait 1-2 years to get anything besides bleeding edge first run products....
Pay close attention to CES this month and see what comes up

Seems strange and maybe one of those "if it seems to good to be true, then....." stories. Anyone have experience... -

by Brandon BFor those of you not scouring the web for CEDIA FP news - a quick roundup:

CEDIA REPORT 2004
My main impression at CEDIA this year, at least when it comes to projectors, was that it was mainly a repeat of last year’s show. I saw many of the same pieces trotted...-
