    4805 Flickering

Am I the only one that notices that my SP4805 brightness flickers during movies?

After I loaded the service pack, that was released back in December last year, it started flickering in dark scenes. I have contacted Tech support several times and all that I can get back from them is "we know about it and we're working on it, the new release is coming in the near future.

I'm starting to feel like they don't have enough of these units in the field to bother putting any priority on supporting them.

Mine did the same thing after doing the firmware upgrade. But it stopped flickering about 80-90 hrs after doing the update.Sometimes cleaning the filter and reseating the bulb helps.Mine has close to 1000 hrs and works fine. The flicker can be very annoying.Good luck. :T

A lot of people noticed flickering after the latest firmware upgrade.
They mostly went back to v1.02
Also, bob williams posted on AVSforum about the flickering problem and stated that its also the way the lamp burns itself.
Apperently the arc (which provides illumination) gets uneven after awhile.
Running it on Bright for a couple hours, it seems, remedies the situation.
Its kind of a case of the arc finding the path of least resistance and it needs to be reset into a stable pathway.

(i've been reading up a lot on low rez projectors...)

      Cheers,
      Mikey

        My new Infocus 4805!
        by ti33er
Well well well, the UK has finally graced us Brits with the much talked about Infocus 4805!

I had a demo yesterday afternoon, and without a shadow of a doubt, handed over my plastic wallet within 30 minutes – we did a side-by-side comparison with the Infocus 5700, and I tell you what,...

        Infocus 4805 vs 5000 (DLP v LCD)

I was fortunate enough to have the use of a new 4805 & 76-inch Infocus screen for a couple of weeks. I'm planning to buy a projector and screen in mid-February.

(Incidentally, it will definitely be a step up, no matter what: It's replacing a Kloss Novabeam built around 1982. Works...

        4805 pictures up close?
        by ericschirm
I was about to buy the Panasonic AE700u because of the great reviews and the smoothscreen tech. My front row is going to be really close (9ft from 110" screen). But now that the Infocus 4805 price is dropping I might get that instead (100"screen). I know that everyone recommends 2x distance...

        Sony vpl cs6 brightness flickering
        by thoma004
I have a sony vpl cs6 that is less than a year old. It is already on its second bulb (first one burnt out after 100 hours and sony sent a replacement).

My problem is that after 100 hours on this new bulb, the display brightness flickers erratically. It will go darker and lighter at...
