    Quality Questions Re: Panny AE700

    Hi everyone....

Ok, So I have around 250 Hours on my AE-700 now. However, up until now, i've been just too busy to deal with some of the issues I have with the unit..

    A) I feel like the picture, playing off a DVD (samsung up-res DVD) is blurry. Now, I do understand that DVD is a compressed format, but is it normal for even on a 106" screen for the image to a bit soft? When I use the VGA input, it also looks blurry and soft. What are your experiences?

    B) HDMI Brightness - the signal coming from said DVD player looks dim. It's not horrible, but seems incorrect. Everyone who posted up here has mentioned how bright the PJ is... wondering what everyone else's experiences are.

Ok, just wondering is there is a problem here or if I am being too picky for what I got (maybe my expectations are too high?)

    Ok, thanks,

    -Todd A.

Todd, one of the reasons I didn't buy the 700 was due to the soft picture I saw during a demo. I fiddled with the settings in the showroom and tried adjusting focus , but nothing helped. Some other owners have wondered if there was a way to turn off the smooth picture technology in this PJ but apparently there isn't. I didn't really notice a brightness problem. The PJ I viewed was fine in that category, as were the contrast and black levels.

DVDs look wonderfully sharp and clear on my NEC HT1000 dlp and Yamaha LPX 510 lcd projector. I have a 106" diagonal screen and sit 13 feet from the screen.
