    PT-AE700U upside down from ceiling

I bought a Panasonic PT-AE700U projector, which I must mount on the ceiling of my home theater.

I understand that many projectors have anamorphic lens and the image is straight not when the projector is positioned in the center of the screen, but when the projector is close to bottom part of screen on a coffee-table. This allows to have the projector either on a table or work upside down from ceiling, in rotating the image in setup.

In order to minimize keystone distortions of the image, I would like to know whether I must mount the PT-AE700 upside-down hanging from the ceiling with an appropriate ceiling mount and if this projector is working well upside down (ventilation) or if I should mount it upside up from the ceiling.

that'll depend on your particular projector. I think it should have the different projection options. My budget H-31 has couple of different projection methods, so I can change it from Front Proj., Rear Proj. Upside down or Downside up. I think it's a pretty cool function that comes in handy. I have my H-31 ceiling inverted mounted ( upside down ) and the PQ doesn't look any different from the right side up.

I have the AE700U and mounted it upside down and have had no problems. Personally I think if you are going the route of ceiling mount, I believe upside down is the best option as not only does the PJ have the necessary screw/brakets for this intallation, but this way the buttons are facing down. This comes it handy say if your remote batteries go dead or your 3 yr old hides the remote. Otherwise you will be on a ladder looking at the controls.

Upside down is always the way to go for ceiling mount.Even if the Panny allowed you to position the PJ right side up at ceiling level, I'm sure the lens shift would be so extreme that the picture quiality would likely suffer.

My AE700 is mounted upside down from the ceiling. (see my theater progress pictures in "Spaced Out") Works great. The AE700 has minimal keystoning abilities. What it does have is a physical lens shift with a knob that allows you to move the picture off center. Mine is mounted from the ceiling at about 18' projection distance and the top of the picture is down about 12" from the top of the ceiling with no distortion.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.
