    DIY PJ mount

As I promised to some awhile back here's my DIY projector mount.

Initially I built a mount from an old camera tripod which was great becasuse it allowed me to move the mount up and down easily as well as some tilt adjustments. It wasn't very solid though so once I knew what I needed I rebuilt it. This time I used 1/2 MDF that has a section of 2" * 2" lumbar glued and screwd to it. I then drilled out the three mounting holes for the bolts. With my setup I found that I had all the adjustment I needed as far as tilt goes by adjusting the front left and right screws up or down and since the 1HD has the wonderful lens shift feature moving the image left/right up/down was a snap. IMO lens shift should be included on ALL projectors. This is then glued and screwed to a floor joist which gives it a very secure hold. Unlike most of the DIY mounts you see online I decided to make my base plate a triangle shape which uncovers more of the vents as well as makes it very easy to get to the dust filter on my 1HD unit.

    Nice set-up Andrew!
Do you have any front views of the projector?

Trevor the second from the top is a front view...its just the lens cover is down to keep dust out I'll take another with the cover in the up position.

Overall, very clean and functional, Mr. Pr@. My hat off to you--that was very well done.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Yes the Z1 also has a cover...the only difference between the two units is the colour (1HD is dark grey vs a lighter grey for the Z1)

Chris thanks its nothing elaborate but its solid and gives me the flexibiliy I needed. I only wish the hole in the ceiling was smaller but given the drop ceiling its not easy to get them back in place with a much smaller hole. I might see about cleaning that up somehow (I have a few ideas) but I'm in no hurry.

Andrew you could put a cover over the hole.
Much like you see at the base of a light fixture.
In my previous home, I had the same tiled ceiling..
It was sure handy for wiring and cabling. You could pretty much install anything in a very simple manner.
I like the grey paint you used.
              Mine was the original White.

I'll attest to that. Andrew whacked his head xx) on the projector and nothing moved other than his head

Yeah that's my ultimate test to see how solid things are...so far my projector and the rear centre speaker pass with flying stars
