anyone using a 10m or more dvi cable?

just wanted to know if anyone is using a 10m or more run of dvi cable, if so is there any sign of artifacts or flaws.

please also mention which cable you are using. thanks

i have short listed a dvi cable from www.supracables.co.uk, however they give a warning about the 12m run (will need to check with them on a 10m run)

    thanks

I don't use DVI but everything I have read, including comments by users, is to avoid long runs with DVI cable. If there is a 10 meter cable that will work it is bound to be EXPENSIVE .

I've read that there are some 10M cables that work, but it's a little touch and go, dependent on the quality of transmitter/receiver assemblies in the player and TV/Projector. I'm using a 5 meter cable, no problems, but when you think about the pixel clock and data bandwidth required, it's impressive this long a cable works well. Or at all. Remember, if we have analog RGB bandwitdth to 100 or 150 MHz, that's considered pretty hot... here, we're sending pluse waveforms of bytes encoding each analog value, plus all the encryption and command overhead (with HDCP). Even off brand DVI cables are fairly expensive, even in shorter runs. It is something of a problem, compared with what you can do running RGB over big fat cables. That's why most of my stuff is in two racks, feeding an NEC switcher, who's RGB output is then routed to the projector.

I have an 8 meter DVI/HDMI cable and it works flawlessly.
Being digital cables they should work fine over longer distances as opposed to analog cables.

            Dvi Cable 10m

I have been using a Ram Electronics 10m cable from a Bravo D1 DVD player to a Sanyo Z2 projector for over a year without problem. I don't see any flaws.
            Cost was about $115

I am aware of at least 3 people using the same cable as Dale at 50' long with no sparklies. They are running at 1364x768 resolution, ~60Hz frame rate though. If you will be going higher than that you may have issues.

                I'm using a 10m dtronics optical dvi cable for 1920x1080x60hz. I first tried a 10m
normal cable and saw numerous sparklies. Lower resolutions are more likely to work with the non-optical cable.

There are a couple of copper based cables that will work at your rez, but indeed most will not. William Phelps had tested quite a few between a JVC HD2K and its scaler before he found some that would.

I also use a 10 m DVI cable from Ram Electronics and I have seen no problems. I have not seen any sparkles or artifacts.
