Forbidden Planet is a true scifi classic. I've had it in my collection on tape, and now on dvd. When I saw this in the theater, the unseen monster attack on the spaceship and crew scared the living daylights out of me. It still gives me shivers.
That's a good deal for the two. I am not a big fan of 1M BC, but Raquel was something to look at, that's for sure. -
Man I'm spacy today. Should have read "The Day the Earth Stood Still/1,000,000 years B.C." Haven't gotten around to buying "Forbidden Planet" yet, and it is devoid of Harryhausen's work.

B, click on the Thread Tools button at the upper right of the thread frame. Highlight the "edit thread" radio button and that SHOULD let you edit the title. If not, you'll have to get one of the Admins to do it.Originally posted by Brandon B.

Wow, watched 1,000,000 Years B.C.
PQ was so-so, sound was pretty awful. But hey it was 16:9 enhanced! Turns out it was made from two surviving 35mm prints, the original negative is "known to be lost". Or was it pushed? :rofl:
The movie is unchanged, although it was nice to see it without commercials. And it was worth the $7 'cuz the kid really likes Harryhausen dinosaurs.
The disk had no sound at all until about 10 seconds into the movie, so I am pushing buttons and twiddling knobs trying to figure out what's not working.
In other words, skip it and buy Caveman unless your a diehard Raquel fiend or something. Although I'd take Raquel over Barbara Bach.

Does anyone know if there is there any difference between the MGM and Warner versions of the DVD. The only difference I can find is the Warner remixed it in DD 5.1 (I didn't see where the MGM was done in 5.1) Both versions have P&S and WS versions. Is one transfer better than another?
