    New National Lampoon DVD's

All I can say is... FINALLY!

National Lampoon is re-releasing several movies on DVD, but actually doing it right this time. Animal House, Lampoon's Vacation (first one), and Christmas Vacation are all being re-released in Special Edition versions, with anamorphic widescreen.

Personally, I've been waiting for YEARS for Christmas Vacation. It's only been available in a non-anamorphic version, and it might have even been full screen. (shudder) I picked this one up right away along with the original Vacation.

These movies are hillarious!! Chevy chase is so funny. One of the best ones is the one with Aunt Edna strapped to the roof of the car. I believe it's the one with John Candy as a security guard at Wally World. I may just have to add these to my collection.

I just watched my 20th anniversary original "Lampoon's Vacation". GREAT!!!! So nice anamorphic over DVI on my plasma. Good picture. I think I've only seen the movie on TV before, because there were a LOT of extra scene parts that I had never seen before. Hilarious. My only complaint would be that the "Dolby Digital 5.1" mix mostly just comes through my center channel. (sigh)

I'll be getting Christmas Vacation soon and post how that turns out.

Yep, Animal House is my all time favorite school flick. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago. It has been shipped and I should receive it any day now.

And a bargain at $13.99 shipped.

I only had Vacation on laserdisc, and in P&S. Even the dvd was only in P&S for a long time, so I grabbed the new release a few days ago and watched it the same day I picket it up. Looked great. Still funny after all this time, too.

Chris, I don't believe this title was in 5.1. It only lists Dolby Digital English Mono on the back cover.

            "No, Aunt Bethany"

Along with "A Christmas Story", which I've also reviewed here, this is one of my favorite Christmas film. Unfortunately, until now Warner Brothers had released only a low-quality DVD of this movie,...

THE JOHNSON FAMILY VACATION, yuk yuk yuk
            by George Bellefontaine
            ... NOT.

I was in the mood for renting a comedy for Saturday night. After reading the jacket on The Johnson Family Vacation, starring Cedric The Entertainer and Vanessa Williams, this looked like a good one. Unfortunately it wasn't.

Every year Cedric attends a family reuinion....

            Favorite Christmas Movies
            by Chris D
I realized today that I should have started this a couple weeks ago, but maybe it's something we can pull out of the archives every year. I realized that we don't have a thread dedicated to Christmas movies. What does everybody has as favorites? Here's mine, that I enjoy year after year:

Warner Brothers' deal to upgrade your DVD's to Blu-Ray
            by Chris D
Warner Brothers is really starting to impress me. Many of you may remember their "Red 2 Blue" deal they offered after HD-DVD died, where you could trade in your HD-DVD WB movies for BD versions, super cheap. Well, they just announced a new program, where you can upgrade selected WB DVD's...
