    If You love old musicals...

Here's three I just picked up:

    HIGH SOCIETY
    LES GIRLS
    SILK STOCKINGS

I also noticed Kiss Me Kate, but I never liked that film. Anyway, I will be watching HIGH SOCIETY tonight. It stars Frank ( my man ) Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby and a gorgeous Grace Kelly.

Les Girls stars Gene Kelly and Mitzie Gaynor and Silk Stockings stars Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse.

Thesae are in their original widescreen theaterical ratios and I can't wait to view them in my HT.

The High Society DVD looked GREAT to me!
I had the pan-and-scan laserdisc version of the movie before, and the new DVD just blows it away visually.

I also got the Broadway Melody of 1940 DVD, which has a couple amazing dance scenes with Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell.

The latest version of NED KELLY
      by George Bellefontaine
The first version starred Mick Jagger. I didn't see it so I can't compare the two. This version stars Heath Ledger, Orlando Bloom, Geoffery Rush and Naomi Watts, who looks a lot like fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman.

Ned Kelly is an Australian Western set in the 1800s. Kelly ( Ledger) and...

      Broadway musicals on Blu
      by George Bellefontaine
One of my all time favorite Broadways musicals is South Pacific. I only had it on laserdisc so when it was released on Bluray I got it in a hurry. If any of you out there love these musicals and have them on either LD or those crummy non-anamorphic transfers, then get this one fast. The PQ is to die...

      Les Miserables
      by Chris D
This one absolutely deserves its own write-up.

For anyone not familiar with this story, it's based on a book by Victor Hugo, set during the ongoing French Revolution in the early 1800's. It's a story of pain, anguish, justice, grace, damnation, sacrifice, love, and redemption. Has been...

      Kelly Sweet
      by RebelMan
I discovered a great new artist this evening at the Celebrity Theatre - Kelly Sweet. Anyone else heard of her? She sang the title cut of her debut album "We Are One" and "Raincoat". Anyone interested in new female vocals that plays to the Smooth Jazz genre needs to take this disk...
