    The good and the bad

I took a day off work today with a heavy cold which gave me a chance to watch a couple of films:

    A Good Year (2006)

This is a light hearted story about a successful money market dealer who goes to rural France for the weekend and discovers what's important in life. I enjoyed it because most of us would like to climb off the treadmill and smell the roses. Apologies for mixing my metaphors there but you know what I mean. It was unusual to see Russell Crowe act in a non-violent, non-serious role for a change. I'll give it 7 stars out of 10. Normally it would have received 5 or 6 stars had I not watched the next film immediately afterwards which was:

    Divergent (2014)

The plot of this film is so flawed on so many levels that the film just doesn't make sense. I presume it was aimed at below-average intellect teenagers who probably think it's deep and meaningful. It scores 2 stars out of 10. The most surprising aspect of the film is that I watched it 'til the end. I think I was too unwell to pick up the remote control.

    Nigel.

    The fault in our stars

My 15 year old daughter read the book and watched this in the theater with her friends awhile back and recommended it for me to see. I spun this sad, romance movie last night and give it a good thumbs up! Well acted, well written and very emotional....

    Parasound gear and film makers
    by Chris D
Latest press release from Parasound. I have a personal connection to this one, as I grew up in Colorado, and played sports with Columbine High School. The Columbine massacre really touched me, as I would imagine it did to all of us. I think I'm going to send a message the way of Andrew Robinson,...

Student Film year two to three

I will start shortening things up here. And just get to the salient points. But first, let me say this. Up to this point Heavens Gate was the biggest disaster in the history of filmmaking, at least from the perspective of the investors. At $40 million dollars it bankrupted UA studios. Books have been...

Treadmill causing interference to my X1
    by jhcombs
When I try to run on the treadmill and watch my Infocus X1, the picture goes away like it is not receiving input. Sometimes it will work when running the treadmill at slow mph or at idle. Anybody have any experience with this and what might be causing it?
