"The fault in our stars" Review

    The fault in our stars

My 15 year old daughter read the book and watched this in the theater with her friends awhile back and recommended it for me to see. I spun this sad, romance movie last night and give it a good thumbs up! Well acted, well written and very emotional. The thing that made this movie work for me was that the main young, cancer stricken actors are relative unknowns. For me, this always adds to the 'believe' factor when I'm watching a film.

Laura Dern and Willem Dafoe also co-star as two of the adult notable co-stars of this film and do a fine job......but only that. The young actors steal the show (Shailene Woodley / Ansel Elgort)!

Other kudos go to the soundtrack (Excellent audio quality), exceptional video quality and cinematography. Come to think of it, this would be really worth spinning on BD for this very reason!

8.5/ 10 stars for a well done film (There are fewer and fewer nowadays!) :T
    Dan Madden :T

Before I go on. You will notice that my stories are very egocentric. That is deliberate, for the most part, I try to stay away from talking about actors and their motives or who they are and how they act away from work. I only know what my experiences and motives were.

    So, as I was saying,...

Now we all have learned that at the beginning of each day you are given your pages of the days work. For me that means I can figure out how I am going to utilize my crew and plan my day. The more I can get ahead of the company with pre-lighting the more time I can save production. And in film time is...

I will start shortening things up here. And just get to the salient points. But first, let me say this. Up to this point Heavens Gate was the biggest disaster in the history of filmmaking, at least from the perspective of the investors. At $40 million dollars it bankrupted UA studios. Books have been...

The Ice Harvest is film noir
    by George Bellefontaine
I really love those great b&w film noir movies from the 40s and early 50s and The Ice Harvest fits right into that category, only it is film noir in color. It stars John Cusack as a seedy lawyer ( he represents the mob, among other things) and Billy Bob Thornton as a lowlife who teams up with Cusack...

Year five rolls around and the Director calls me up. He tells me that he wants to start over, new script, new actors, fresh start beginning to end. Even the crew will be new, except for me. He wants to know if I think I could shoot it. "Yes, sure I have only shot commercials but lighting is most...
