Redemption is not your average Jason Statham flick

I always knew Jason Statham could act when he had the right material, and in the case of REDEMPTION, he has the right material in spades. He plays a British soldier who goes AWOL after a bad incident in Afghanistan. To disappear he becomes a homeless, drunken wretch. He gets a chance to get his life back when he has an opportunity to seize another man's identity. As well, local Chinese mobsters hire him as a strong arm collector. He does some nasty things, but when he falls for a nun he met while a street person, she works on his conscience and he soon feels compelled to turn his life around, especially for his estranged wife and daughter. What he does next...well that would be giving things away.

Some Statham fans may not like this dark gritty film, because it is not the usual Statham fare. But trust me, it is a well written, well acted film worth seeing. I liked it enough to buy it.

        Sounds interesting...

I might even get the wife to watch it as she finds Statham to be quite hunky

 But she may be disappointed here. If I recall correctly, he only had his shirt off once and it was very brief. Definitely not the usual Statham fare.

Watched it last night. Definitely above grade in comparison the usual Statham flick. Quite enjoyed it, solid 7.5/10 :T

Here in Australia this movie is called Hummingbird.
I watched it a few nights ago and was generally quite disappointed with the stereotypical helpless/angelic women, brutish/evil men formula.

ah thankyou for this, as I was reading the main post thinking, how come have seen this movie though never heard of "redemption" ?

am a bit a jason S fan perhaps but enjoyed the movie overall.

                      TEARS OF THE SUN

Okay, now, let's be honest. Out of today's crop of actors, who does the action hero better than Bruce Willis ? In Tears Of The Sun he is at his best. At first portraying a tough Navy Seal, but who later breaks his own rules and gets involved by going against orders....

Please join me in welcoming Jason (Aud19) to moderating duties here. Frankly, I didn't even tell him, I just did it,

See how long it takes him to notice. I liked his video knowledge he's been sharing here, so that got him the gig. Myself, I was really more a placeholder moderator...

...the 1975 Peckinpah film ( THE Killer Elite ) that starred James Caan and Robert Duval. This one is based on the 1991 novel entitled The Feather Men and is supposedly a true story. True or not, it is an entertaining action flick starring Jason Statham and Robert Dinero as mercenaries and Clive Owen...

This is a story of two sisters, an act of betrayal that drives them apart, and a grandmother, played wonderfully by Shirley MacLaine, that ultimately brings them back together. Toni Collette ( Rose ) is the older sister, who has been more a mother than a sister to the younger Diaz ( Maggie). Both sisters...
