I judge Dredd a worthy form of entertainment

I read a lot of Judge Dredd comics when I was in high school and early in university and quite enjoyed them. The Stallone version was a disaster and it was with quite a bit of trepidation that I decided to rent the recent version. I should not have worried. It is quite faithful to the spirit of the source material and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Will likely add it to the collection at some point. It will give your sub a good workout. Not for all tastes, but those who are so inclined (a bit reminiscent of Escape from New York in tone, though with fully modern effects) should enjoy it. :T

Cool. I am SO tired of story reboots. The Stallone version wasn't great or anything, but I'm still reluctant to see a replacement. (Mr. "I-Am-The-Law") I'll definitely watch this as a rental or on TV, so I'll look forward to it.

Rented it, based on your recommendation. Liked it! Liked that Dredd never took his helmet off, keeping the character pure for what it was written to be. Worth a rental.

I didn't like the original, but if you guys liked the remake then I'll give it a go.

            FORGET CARTER.
Naw, that isn't fair. This was a valiant effort at a remake of the original Get Carter starring Michael Caine. Nice try but it just didn't make it. Stallone is not as nasty as Caine in the original. You actually find yourself pulling for Carter in this version, whereas you weren't...

YET EVEN as DVD surges, it is on a different economic path than video, and one that is fraught with dangerous unknowns.
Where video enriched Hollywood through rental fees and sales, the hottest action in DVD right now is in sales. Chains like Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Target Corp. and Best...

A little Irish gangsterish film. Worth a look if you liked In Bruges. It's not as good as In Bruges and it is a bit uneven, but the acting is good (Jim Broadbent as a foul-mouthed Irishman is a hoot and Brendan Gleeson, of In Bruges, does well) and it is entertaining, if not a classic. A worthy rental...

Wow! I was shocked when I did a search and there was no thread for this one!! :E

Anyhoo, PHENOMENAL movie! Well acted, written, filmed...everything. I'm actually surprised it didn't win a couple of Oscars.

The PQ was quite good and the SQ while not action/fantasy "demo"...

How long to wait til I judge my speakers?
            by monk_d_syple
Hi I just got new speakers 604s + lcr600. It will be a week tomorrow. I was wondering how long it takes for the speakers to fully break in. the 604s sound great, the 600 is not quite there yet. Its giving out to low a sound still. I know I know, I have to work on acoustics big time, but I had the...
