Picked up the Thor bluray today. Watching now, but wanted to toss this out there now before I finished because it might help some people. The sound effects whenever they open the portals or whatever clipped my surrounds big time. Don't think there was any damage but it seemed consistent with each time there was a "portal" opened so far. Just fair warning to anyone else who may have gotten it.

Thanks, Chuck. Not sure if I'm buying it but may rent. Is the soundtrack recorded louder than normal ?- Bottom

It might just be my copy or something... I posted the same issue on AVS and nobody else said they had it. Not sure how that would happen though. The rest of the soundtrack seems great to me. I'll have to run some other movies and a test disc just to make sure there's nothing wrong w/my system. Though I did just watch X-Men: First Class on bluray two days ago and it was great.-Chuck- Bottom

Yes it was! Especially the scene where the sub is lifted from the water. That sounded great!Originally posted by impala454Though I did just watch X-Men: First Class on bluray two days ago and it was great.
Just picked up Thor. I'll watch it tonight and post if I have the same results with the surrounds.B&W 804S/Velodyne SPL-1000R/Anthem MRX720- Bottom

Impala, I'm sorry to report that I did not have any clipping problems with the surround.
About the blu-ray, the picture quality was gorgeous! Very very nice looking picture! Especially the scenes in Asgard. I actually found the movie to look much better than it did in the movie theater. However, some scenes in Asgard seemed to be TOO clear and you were able to easily distinguish where green screens were used. (X-Men: First Class had the same issue with X-Men mansion. You were able to see it was a cardboard prop)
The surround sound processing was excellent. A lot a lot of use of the surrounds. Very entertaining. By far, the best sound effect was when the Destroyer shoots out his heatblasts. I played that part back just to hear it again. :B
Is the movie itself worth the purchase? Maybe, kinda yes and no. However, I think the amount of eye and ear candy in this movie makes it worth purchasing.B&W 804S/Velodyne SPL-1000R/Anthem MRX720- Bottom

The Consultant. One of the bonus features is a small skit called The Consultant. Pretty interesting as it shows a bit of what direction they're taking with the Avengers.B&W 804S/Velodyne SPL-1000R/Anthem MRX720- Bottom
