    Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Trilogy,"

A couple of months ago I rented "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and gave up on it about 15 minutes into it.

I keep seeing the rave reveiws for the trilogy and wonder if I should give them a second chance.

What do others think about these three?

While just this Friday I got my wife the hardback trilogy as small impromptu gift after she expressed an interest in reading the 'The girl with the dragon tattoo', I admit to not knowing anything at all about the novel or the film. She has wanted to see the flick, but wanted to read the book first.

I will make it a point to update you on her impressions of the written version as she fills me in. In fact, she is reading this very minute.

The books are great. I have not watched the films yet owing to a language dispute (well, a small issue, really). My wife read the books in French translation and I read them in English. The films were released in Canada, with French subtitles, nearly a year before the English subtitle releases. I want to see them in English and my wife wants to see them in French. I had thought to simply buy the trilogy and we could each watch the language we wanted at our leisure, but neither release has the other language. I'd have to buy two sets (or rent two sets--pain in the butt) or one of us will have to "give in".

What I'll probably do is wait for the DVD set to come down in price and get them in French on DVD for my wife and get them in English on BD for me (she doesn't care about hi-def).

Jen liked all three books. She did say that they can get a bit long-winded. Since we use Amazon for her iTouch and my Kindle we get to download to 2 machines. I'll get them and read them this summer.

I read all 3 books and I rented the first movie on Friday. Was poorly made as it was a direct cut from the book. What I mean is that Stieg Larson(sp?) goes back and forth between his characters and the film does the same but it didn't work and it loses you. The books are a great read, but the first book builds up the character and the history of them, so it takes a while to get on with the story.
          Very good books! Bad movie!
