    The Kids Are All Right

A lesbian couple ( Annette Bening and Julianne Moore ) have their relationship turned upsidedown when their teenage son and daughter look up their surrogate dad ( Mark Ruffalo ) and bring him into the mix. The film is both funny and emotional at times. The acting is superb, especially by Annette Bening who just won a Golden Globe for her performance as the more male figure ( and provider ) of the two. Well worth a rental. :T

They smack lips a few times, but the lovemaking is pretty tame. However, Julianne has a scene with Mark Ruffalo that...well it should be seen.

The wife & I were bowled over by this film. It was brilliantly conceived and written & amazingly was successfully schizophrenic in its ability to wrap multiple genres into a single movie.

It was it comedy, a drama, a love story and a character study all at the same time while never getting carried away, missing the exact target or leaving holes in the story.

The way it dealt with the same modern, day to day issues that we all do like raising teenagers, maintaining a healthy relationship, growing as individuals as we seek some sort of answer to what personal happiness is, juggling a career with home life and what it truly means to love & forgive.

This family that initially seems so differently structured than what most people would describe as ‘main stream’ becomes the window to the universal struggles we are all dealing with in today’s society.

The humor, the pain & the truth of trying to cope with living life in today’s world is shared by us all. No matter how different we think we may be, we are in fact at the most basic levels, all the same.

        Great movie!

Hard to find fault with that assessment, Bill. I have to say both the wife and I truly loved this film. Annette and Julianne are such great actresses that I found myself mesmerized whenever they were on screen together. Also, I'd add that Annette Benning probably should have won the Oscar, but I haven't seen Natalie Portman in The Black Swan, so perhaps I should reserve judgement.

I spun this BD disc yesterday and enjoyed it........that is........until the end. This is the tragic story of a brainy, academic woman (Julianne Moore) who upon realizing that weird things were happening in her brain, decides to get herself checked out and...

This stars Julianne Moore in a true story based on the real life murder of socialite Barbara Daly Baekeland, a woman who married above her social class and gave birth to a son ( who was seen as a failure in his father's eyes ),thus sowing the seeds for a future tradgedy.

            This movie plods...

Yep, another one of those films that it seems like only my wife and I watch. Well this is the story of a real life mother of 10, Evelyn Ryan ( played by Julianne Moore) who had to come up with some way of raising a large family while putting up with a nasty drunk of a husband, Kelly ( played effectively...

Powerhouse performances by Sameul L. Jackson and Julianne Moore. Basically, Moore's character claims someone has hi-jacked her car and kidnapped her son. This has happened in a large African American neighborhood where Jackson is pretty much the cop in charge, and with this incident the time bomb starts...
