I picked this up in the bargain bin . It's on dvd and I hadn't seen it since it was released in 1956.
It's one helluva war drama starring Jack Palance, Eddie Albert and Lee Marvin.
Albert plays a cowardly captian who leaves Palance and his platoon in dire straits ( without the promised support ) once too often. Lee Marvin plays a Lt. Col. who despises Albert, but protects him because of a promise he made to Albert's father.
It was based on a stage play so much of the drama plays out during long interior scenes. But there is still plenty of action. It was directed by Robert Aldrich who was at the top of his game in the 50s. If you want to see some of the era's finest acting and directing, get your hands on this one and watch it. :T
