    The African Queen on Blu-ray

This great classic starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn has finally come to North America on Blu-ray and DVD. I had it on tape, then on laserdisc and eventually on a dvd import that had a transfer similar to the laserdisc, but now I am thrilled that it is on Blu-ray, and with a lot of hardwork in the restoration, too. Bogart only had one Oscar, but he deserved every bit of it for his performance in The African Queen. If you've never seen this great classic, you don't know what you're missing. Get it now. Today. I just got mine this morning and for only $22.83 Canadian at Walmart. A great bargain considering Amazon's $29.99 price. There is also a special Blu-ray set ( around $40 I believe ) with many extras, including a book written by Miss Hepburn concerning her experiences filming The African Queen. I already had this and a few other extras in my LD boxset so I just went for the barebones Blu-ray. BTW, the book is hilarious.

I'll be getting the special edition at some point as this is one of my favourite Bogart films.

That edition has a reprint of Hepburn's, now out of print, book she wrote about her experiences in the making of The African Queen. I really think you'll like that, Ovation. I got a big kick out of it.

There is a hardcover version available on Amazon (USA) for a very reasonable price.

Got around to watching this on Blu-ray last night. What a thrill to see the picture in clear, sharp 3 strip technicolor. This was how I remember it from the theater. :T

The last I saw this film, I was a child. And though I was a sci-fi/action guy, I recall really enjoying movie. I'll have to get it and give it a spin on BR.

Thanks for the reminder, George. :T

I've listed a few below. Many of these were first in my VHS tape collection, then moved to the laserdisc bin and today own a spot on my dvd racks. Shane, for example, came out on tape somewhere around 1980-82 and I bought it at that time. This was a movie, like High Noon, that I saw several times in...
