    All About Steve

This comedy/drama (sort of), stars Sandra Bullock as a creator of crossword puzzles. She's a walking word bank but because her every eccentric waking moment involves creating new crossword puzzles, life is passing her by, especially in the boy companionship/ sex department. When she meets a tv news cameraman, Bradley Cooper, she becomes convinced he loves her. Fact is, he doesn't. She ends up chasing ( stalking ) him all over the country until an accident involving a cave-in brings everything to a head.

I like Bullock and feel she is a natural comedienne, but I didn't find her all that funny in this role. In fact I felt she was miscast here. She was probably attracted to the role because the film is more of a character study than an ordinary comedy ( which is why I likely found the storyline weak). If you're a Bullock fan, I wouldn't say don't see All About Steve ( it's actually all about Mary, Sandra's character) but you may be a bit disappointed. For others, this is more of a character plot and less of a comedy than you'd expect so you may want to pass on it.

Blu-ray was okay and nothing much in the audio department except for some moments during a tornado.

The wife and I are not sorry we watched this, but it wouldn't have bothered us if we had missed it. So now, after her taking an Oscar, we're looking forward to seeing Sandra in Blind Side.

    Mr. & Mrs. Smith--Hitchcock makes a comedy?!
    by Ovation
Pulled another classic off the shelf last night. Hitchcock's only "straight comedy" (no murder, no mayhem), this stars the woman who defined "screwball comedienne"--Carole Lombard. Also starring Robert Montgomery, the story, style and comical moments are straight from the late 30s/early...
