This is an old favorite film of mine. I've owned it on tape, LD and then dvd. but was never fully satisfied with the PQ, so when I saw it was on Blu, and for only $16 CDN, I grabbed it up. It's a John Boorman film and it's filmed with many shots in a wide vista presentation that doesn't always look well on smaller screens. Even though my screen is 92 inches wide, that's still a far cry from how I saw it in the theater, which probably had a 50 footer for a screen. So I was more than pleased to see a much improved presentation on Blu-ray . Still, Warner did not spend much time or effort on the transfer as there was one scene in particular where a hair was stuck in the gate. It's only there for a few seconds, but it shouldn't have been there at all. There were also some soft scenes, but I do recollect that even in the theater it had somewhat of a soft appearance. All in all, I am finally satisfied with what I have for home presentation. If somewhere down the road, they do a restoration version, I will likely dip again.
