Excellent. Story of Chess Records. Don't know if it is historically accurate but, sure is a fun movie with some great music.

I finally got my copy from Amazon and watched it last night. Anyone my age, who lived through that period in the late forties to the fifties and beyond, and witnessed and even participated ( by playing the juke box and buying the records ) in the transition from southern soul to rythym and blues, and eventually to rock and roll, will find Cadillac Records a music lovers dream.

It's about the rise of Chess Records, founded by Leonard Chess, who had an ear for a certian kind of music and through artists like Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Chuck Berry and Etta James, presented it to the world in waiting. There are fantastic performances by Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, Columbus Short as Little Walter, Mos Def as Chuck Berry, and an amazing performance by Beyonce as Etta James. But best of all, there's the music.

See it and hear it for the treat of your life. A huge :T

Hope so too, Bob. I'd love to show you my HT. Mind you, it's nothing fancy, just a room with black and grey walls and no windows, but with the PJ and audio equipment fired up and a widescreen image on the 92" screen, I am transported into another world. I would also love to listen to some of your stories about those films and the actors and directors you were involved with. Maybe it'll happen someday after the economy picks up. Quiet here now, but a lot of films were being made in Nova Scotia the past few years.

I loved this flick!

While there was significant leeway taken with the true facts surrounding some of the history of this fabled label, it still accomplishes the task of conveying the significant roll it played in ‘who’ and ‘what’ was heard over the airwaves and in the school gymnasiums of the 50’s & 60’s. I thought the acting was superb even though the storyline at times was overly dramatized and not always up to the caliber of the performers.

I love music and am interested in its history, so I was familiar with the legacy of Chess. I highly encourage everyone to do a quick ‘wiki’ of Chess Records after seeing the film, if only to appreciate a little more the influence it had on an entire generation and society as a hole, and the people who were truly responsible for it's existence.

My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed this film, I think most of you will, too.

I understand taking a little leeway with history...but...how can you have a movie about Chess records,and not mention Phil Chess???
And I know you cannot mention all of the important artists...but no Bo Diddly??
Especially when one of the main songs,Mannish boy...sung by Muddy Waters was really a Bo song???

I know that with Beyonce having to get screen time...but to do that in place of getting things a little accurate,bugged this bluesman.

Good soundtrack,ok story...just a far fetched one.

I love 60s music and will have to get a hold of this during the week.
Other enjoyable movies from that era I've enjoyed recently are The Temptations, and The Jackson 5 story.
