I have not seen anyone ask yet.......(Sorry if I missed a previous post ops: )
So what were,…… say.....the best three or so movies you watched at home this year? Doesn’t matter to me when they were made, just that you watched them during 2008.
For me:
La Haine – This epic about a trio of teenage best-friends from the Paris slums, a bit surprising being that they are a Jew an Arab and an African, (I still defend the line of thinking that says racism is taught and does not occur naturally in children) tells a story so true and human, I swear Shakespeare came back from the grave to write this one.
This story haunted me for days afterwards, always the sign of a great film. Be aware this is a FL movie with English subtitles.
No Country for Old Men – My favorite genre, blood and evil intent. What’s not to like about this one, & besides, Tommy was born for this role.
The Kite Runner – My favorite for cinematography and a journey of exploration into the human condition.
Sweeney Todd – What can be said; tons of blood and evil intent,,, My favorite genre and my favorite actor as he not only carries forth the grand tradition of Vincent Price and Poe, but does it with a song and dance! Now that’s what I call “Entertainment”!
Nothing could come close to topping this one, IMHO. ;x(
Honorable mention goes to:
Wall-E – My grandchildren and I had a great time watching this one over the holidays.
Grand children, “DaDa Bill! DaDa Bill! Why does the room keep shaking?" :E
DaDa Bill, “Heh Heh Heh” in his most evil of sounding laugh. :B
The Host - This is a real sleeper in the Sci-Fi Godzilla genre that just blew me away, and I don’t often care at all for this type of film. From South Korea, it is dubbed in English, but the subtitles read V differently than the spoken script. I ran it with the English subtitles and the English dubbed audio and got much more from the subtitles. Either way, V much worth a rental, IMHO.
