    Tropic Thunder

Well I found this movie quite funny if you like this "type" of comedy. Lots of just plain stupid stuff going on throughout the movie that made me laugh. Lots of stuff in bad taste and lots of "this doesn't even make sense but it's funny" type material. Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious and even Tom Cruise made for some laughs.

The movie is basically about some guys making a war movie that doesn't go so well to start, so the producer decides to move away from the set and take the guys into the real jungle in the hopes that it will "kickstart" the production by getting away from the scripts and directors and doing it in the "real" environment. As it turns out, it becomes all too real as the actors get caught up in a real life conflcit that results in all sorts of goofy things.

The BR was also quite good. Nice clear picture and decent audio. In fairness, it's not exactly an Iron Man type movie when it comes to sound effects, etc.

If you like stuff like Happy Gilmore, Blades of Glory, etc., you'll probably get a kick out of this movie. There is quite a bit of bad language though so probably not a good one for the kids.

I started watching this last night, but had to stop. I was expecting Ben Stiller comedy, but for the first 30 minutes that I watched, it didn't look like his material. Seemed more Jack-Ass style. It was funny though. I'll have to watch it tomorrow night.

Got a chance to watch this one last night. First thing I did was check my brain at the door. I then enjoyed a funny movie. :B

We just got done watching it. I fell asleep through part of it although not sure its the movies fault as the past 3 nights I've slept on average 4 hours that doesn't include late night wakeups from the kids. From what I saw it had a few laughs. The beginning was quite confusing to me until I figured out it was actually part of the movie.

Exactly my point. His comedy is pretty typical. He's the sorry sap that has bad luck, blah, blah, blah. I'm going to finish watching it tonight (it's Thursday evening in Japan right now)

Same thing happened to my wife. She wouldn't believe me that the trailers were actually part of the movie. ha ha

Finally watched the whole thing last night after my Thanksgiving meal.
That was pretty good. After seeing the credits (and how Tom Cruise acted), I couldn't believe Ben Stiller wrote and directed it. It didn't seem like it was all his type of comedy. It was a good laugh though. :T

Loved Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise, Matt McConaughey was ok. The rest seemed like they were phoning it in. I really expected more from Jack Black and Ben Stiller it was R rated and they seemed to play it safe.

I watched the BD the other night and enjoyed it. It wasn't as consistently funny as I expected, but there were some truly funny moments (I suspect it might be funnier the second time around, like the Airplane movies--I'll certainly give it another whirl when I add it to my collection someday). Robert Downey Jr. was fantastic ("I stay in character until the DVD commentary is over"--great line). The "trailers" were very funny (I liked the added touch of licensing various studio logos to add just an extra bit of confusing "authenticity" to them). "Never go full retard" (another great line). And this is definitely my second favourite Tom Cruise performance (I'm not a fan--but I was pleasantly surprised by his comedic turn. My favourite remains one of his earliest--Risky Business--though I suspect my appreciation of that film is greatly enhanced by the presence of a nubile Rebecca DeMornay...but I digress).

Anyway, not a top ten film, by any stretch, but certainly a worthwhile comedic diversion (for those to whom this type of humour appeals--my wife wouldn't go near this so she watched a quintessential "chick flick" (Evening) upstairs in the living room).

I can vouch for that. I watched it the second time last night and was surprised at some of the things I missed the first time. BTW, the cinematography in this movie is amazing and Blu-ray really shows it off.

Scary Movie 3 (SM3) is solidly in the bad-taste-is funny, sight-gags-galore spoof-a-rama tradition of Airplane! (the same director did both). Unlike Scary Movie 2, which was a tired re-hash of the "original" Scary Movie, (which I enjoyed), SM3 treads new ground, parodying not just horror flicks...

First off let me start by saying:

DO NOT read the cover for this movie... the comments of laugh out loud funny etc are WAY off and totally misrepresent the movie. This is not to say the movie is bad, it isn't, or that it's not funny because it certainly has funny moments but it's not...

I was just reading about Tropic Thunder, which I guess isn't coming out till this summer, but wow looks like its going to be fuck'n funny! The cast has some comedic genius' in it (Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Mathew McConaughey, Robert Downey JR). I'm digging the plot line too, they are all playing A-list...

A friend of mine dropped off this movie in BD format the other day for me to watch. I would personally never rent this film in all likelihood, but alas, it was dropped on my lap.....so.....I spun it!.

All I have to say is that I really liked this film!. It's peddled as a romantic comedy...
