    American Gangster

Not available on Blu as yet, but I bought it on standard dvd anyway. Watched it last night and really liked it. Great acting by Denzel Washington as a real life powerful drug dealer and Russel Crowe as an honest cop who heads up a special investigation unit intent on taking down Washington's organization. There is an unrated and the theatrical version. The unrated runs close to 3 hours but I felt it just moved along with a great pace. An excellent film for those who like this particular genere. And it's directed by Ridley Scott, too.
    I'm really glad I bought it. :T

Got this one a few weeks back and haven't had time to watch it (hard to squeeze in 3 hour movies  ). Nice to hear it'll be worth the wait though George :T

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet (same reason--3 hour movies are a tight fit these days). I bought it in HD DVD last week (cheaper than the SD DVD AND it is a combo--so I can use it anywhere). Looking forward to it.

I don't see why not. It plays on any SD DVD player.

Finally watched it last night and agree it was very well done :T Only negative IMO was the unnecessary end bit with them walking down the street...if you're not going to show what happens after, don't show that part at all IMO.

I didn't have a problem with that ending. It was nice to know that Crowe's character was now a friend of the man who was once his enemy. He proved his friendship by caring enough to meet Washington after he was relased from prison.

Ok so I know this is probably weird, but I bought this on HD-DVD back in April and just now finally watched it for the first time tonight. Very good movie. I think both the guys did a great job, and I love the storyline. I know that movies based on a true story are usually embellished somewhat, but I always find it interesting when a movie this extreme shows you even a small taste of how all of what really went down.

Definitely two thumbs up from me! :T :T

                  Unrated vs. Rated??
                  by june
                  Hello All,

Do anyone watch the rated versions of a DVD if there's a choice rated or unrated?

I think it's a waste of time giving us both versions of a film. I've never watched a rated version if the unrated is available.

My only wish is adding in all deleted...

What do you get when you mix the following:

                  Bob Hoskins-Roger Rabbit fame
                  Jet Li - Nuff Said
                  Morgan Freeman - nuff said

Well you get a little movie called Unleashed. I rented the unrated version. Jet Li plays a killer than has been trained like a dog to just...

                  "American Sniper" BD review

                  American Sniper

I spun this BD the other day in a series of 3 films that I rented (see other two reviews listed here). This is a very good, well done film! This movie is more about the emotional toll that going to war and shooting people has on people than the war itself....

                  American Dreamz ???????
                  by George Bellefontaine
I wanted to like this little comedy but somehow it came across flat even though it had some pretty good actors in Dennis Quaid, Willem Dafoe, Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore. American Dreamz is a tv show, modelled after American Idol, and the show's host is Hugh Grant, modelled after Simon Cowell, and Dennis...
