    Malèna

A woman provokes sensual awakenings in a group of adolescent boys.

On the day in 1940 that Italy enters the war, two things happen to the 12-year-old Renato: he gets his first bike, and he gets his first look at Malèna, a beautiful, silent outsider who's moved to this Sicilian town to be with her husband Nico who promptly goes off to war, leaving her to the lustful eyes of the men and the sharp tongues of the women.

During the next few years, as Renato grows toward manhood, he watches Malèna suffer and prove her mettle: her loneliness, then grief when Nico is reported dead, the effects of slander on her relationship with her father, her poverty and search for work, and final humiliations.

Although the dialogues are in either Italian/French. The movie has got its share of humour and grief and was nominated for the Oscars.

Starring as Malèna, the beautiful Monica Bellucci and Giuseppe Sulfaro as Renato.

A must to watch for everyone, but not suitable for kids. :T

Did you watch the American or European version? There are 10 or so minutes edited out of the American version (mostly to remove nudity  --funny how gratuitous violence is hardly ever edited out of films, but I digress).

I've added it to my ziplist, but I'm a little peeved at the "censorship patrol".

She's red headed, fair skinned, beautiful, and talented, and Julliard trained. Al Pacino once requested her for a part in a play he was doing, after she was recommended by someone, and she was on her way... She thinks she's a wallflower, likes to blend in a room, not stand out. That has to be pretty...

I spun the Movie "Her" last night. I wanted to see this film because of the interesting plot where a lonely man becomes obsessed with a virtual woman operating system. He even falls in love with her (It). 8O With many aspects of our lives becoming more and more...

In Her Shoes much more than a chick flick
        by George Bellefontaine
This is a story of two sisters, an act of betrayal that drives them apart, and a grandmother, played wonderfully by Shirley MacLaine, that ultimately brings them back together. Toni Collette ( Rose ) is the older sister, who has been more a mother than a sister to the younger Diaz ( Maggie). Both sisters...
