Just watched it, and it was very enjoyable, esp via DTS.

              4 out of 5 stars.

              Best regards,

This film is a sleeper. I can imagine people going both ways with it, either loving it or hating it. Me, I think it's a very unique, original picture. It has some extremely unsettling, disturbing situations, but I'm rarely taken for a turn and this movie had plot twists which really threw me.

So, I'm giving it a big thumbs up, but with the proviso that you have to be willing to look at some brutal scenes. It ain't no Disney film, that's for sure. Although, truth be told, these days I'm a pretty tame viewer and I still loved it, so...

Oh, if you do watch it and like it, the credits I found were very creative.

Oh gee, George, I would feel guilty if you went out and did that and ended up not liking it. I will say that I'll probably watch it again today, something I rarely do.

It'll be a great lead off to the other films I rented, March of the Penguins, The Greatest Game Ever Played, and Duma. :B

You know those quotes from reviewers they plaster on the case covers?

                      On this one:
From Peter Hammond: "Makes Kill Bill look like Sesame Street"
From Roger Ebert: "Running Scared goes so far over the top...I am in awe."

No need to feel guilty, Keith. We do have similar tastes and I have always had great trust in your comments. Now I loved Kill Bill so a purchase in this case sounds like a no brainer to me. But to put your mind at ease, I'll rent it first.

May be awhile, Keith 'cause I"m thinking of waiting for it to come up in the previously viewed bin and just go ahead and buy it. In fact, I buy most of the new releases that way now.

Nor did I, so I'm glad you posted before I returned my copy.

George, as always you pick the smart way to do things, unlike impulsive me. :B

By the way, I've been doing a little searching and this film really has people divided. Ebert and Roeper were very split, with Ebert giving it a thumbs up and Roeper happy he'd never have to again waste two hours of his life like this.

I'm really looking forward to Duma tonight.
