    National Treasure

A little surprised we didn't have a discussion on this.

I will say that I went into it with low expectations given the absurd subject matter but I enjoyed it immensely.

While the concept is a bit far fetched, the execution is not. The acting is generally good and the story is decently paced. The could have done more with the romance aspect but I'm glad they didn't as it would have caused some issues.

Movie wise: 7 out of 10. Not perfect but quite enjoyable.

    DVD Wise:
PQ: Not good. Very bland, no detail at all. Typical release from Buena Vista which is to say "Below average". The guy at DVD file reemed it good but he has a 9' wide screen and I might have too.

SQ: Decent. Nothing special. Could have used more LFE.

Extras: Lots and that doesn't include the Best Buy Bonus disc which has 3 more featurettes.

Well well well, I usually like adventure movies and found NT quite interesting to watch...saw it on the big screen i.e. cinema, the clues and the puzzle is quite interesting and kept me glued.

    Enjoy!!!!!!

My screen is just under 8 feet wide so the PQ, if poor, would bother me tremendously. Think I'll try a rental first.

I liked this show more than I thought I would as well. I actually found quite few instances to chuckle with it.

The PQ was adequate, while fuzzy and mottled in some areas, it was not too terribly disturbing on my 51" screen.

Okay, seems worth at least a rental. I was going to buy it for $14.99.

Is it worth viewing multiple times?

          Regards,

I trusted several folks on this and bought it blind for $14.99.

If I really didn't like it then I knew I could sell it on the pawn shop forum for $10 or so and be out the cost of a rental.

I will be watching it again shortly.

I started to buy it yesterday, or day before, and backed down, just wasn't sure. Dang you all, now you got me second guessing myself, lol.

I watched it as a late night movie by myself, then watched it the next evening agin with my family.

                      Rented It.

Ocean's 11 meet Indiana Jones meet James Bond. Reduce action & violence to Disney's level, add lots of explosions with a poor story line and you get National Treasure!

I passed in and out of consciousness as I watched it, awakening each time an explosion rocked my room. :Z ... :E

                      Definetly not too impressed.

                      :2: out of :5:

I'm with Nick on this one. I darn near fell asleep a couple of times. Glad I rented it rather than buying. I was surprised, too, because I usually take to action flicks, good or bad. Just something about TREASURE that didn't work for me, I guess.

Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though the first 30 minutes was a little bit slow.

I didn't expect it to be anything more than a "Disney Adventure" and I was right on that account. I liked how they referenced a lot of American History throughout the film and was glad that they didn't go too far into the love story aspect. This was from the producer of Pirates of the Carribbean...so if you expect much beyond that, you won't like it.

The picture quality was decent, not to write home about, but I don't think it was as bad as some have said.

Sound quality was pretty good. Not a reference DVD by any standards (except maybe Bose?)...but did like the way they did use the surrounds a decent amount of the time. There wasn't a whole lot ambience wise, but during an "action" sequence they spoke up. The LFE wasn't used a whole lot, infact I wondered a few times if my sub was on.

This is on par with pretty much what I've come to expect from a Disney live action movie... and can be enjoyed by the whole family. Can even be used as a somewhat history lesson. ha ha.

Enjoyed it last night with the family(wife slept). Thought the actress did not pull it off quite so well. Seemed kinda artificial.
                                Well I bought it.

I loved "the da vinci code" which this movie was obviously biased by and given the hype I'd heard about it I had pretty high expectations for it...so how did it fare? Well truthfully quite well actually. Cage didn't annoy me as much as he sometimes does when he goes over the top and the other supporting actors did well enough not to be a distraction...well actually Ms. Kruger was a nice distraction The story itself was solid enough and built upon theory's established partly in the Da Vinci Code book only with a US slate as to where the Mason's secrets eventually ended up.

As for the picture quality on my projector it seemed alright...grainy and blocky in some parts but watchable. Audio was decent but we didn't start watching it until very late and my daughter was asleep above the theater room so it wasn't very loud...still the sub rocked several times and the surround effects were frequent.

All in all a solid B+

I'm a little late to the scene with this movie but finally got to watch it. I will own it. I liked it... of course I like Cage, Indiana Jones, Bond, and Ocean's 11... so I'm a little biased I suppose.

I thought it was an entertaining, fun movie.

Certainly not the greatest movie, nor will it compete with some of the greats; but for what it is........just a fun movie.
