That's quite a nice list of DTS titles there. :T Here's some off the top of my head:

          Air Force One (Superbit)
          Apollo 13
          Band Of Brothers
          Bourne Identity
          Bourne Supremacy
          Das Boot
          (Superbit)
          Die Hard (Special Edition)
          I, Robot
          Jurassic Park
          Last Of The Mohicans
          (Director's Cut)
          Lethal Weapon (Director's Cut)
          Lethal Weapon II (Director's Cut)
          Lethal Weapon III (Director's Cut)
          Saving Private Ryan

Some of these, like Apollo 13 and The Lethal Weapon collection (except for IV) are full-bit-rate DTS. That's the good news. The bad news is that they are OOP. EBay, pawn shops, etc are the only way to pick them up.

I have found a dts version of all 3 matrix movies, (the matrix, an matrix reloaded & revolutions) are these legit or are they cheap imitations of the movies? Has anyone seen any of these movies an what was there impression of them.

No, no official DTS releases of the Matrix exist. Supposedly these going to be one of the first HD-DVD releases, with who-knows-what for audio available, but you're probably not talking about that.

Hmmm, I'd verify that it's the DTS version. . . :scratchhead:

Matrix DTS???? Don't think so, at least not Region 1.

I'd throw a vote in for IMAX Super SpeedWay MachII SE :T

                    and definitely The Mummy UE:

Saving Private Ryan has one of the best DTS mix's though its difficult to get past the visuals as demo material.

Master and Commander should be at the top of the list, my personal favorite for demos. HT Magazine listed it as the best audio DVD for 2004, IIRC.

                              Hellaciously good DTS soundtrack.

Try the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition trilogy and Top Gun. Both are DTS 6.1 discrete mixes.

Well well before you start buying all these DTS movies, I would suggest you buy the DVD Video essentials to fine tune your entire system Audio/Video and then buy the DOlby Digital Demo disk to explore the capabilities of your system.

listening to movies would be like more subjective and will not bring out the true strength or weaknesses of your system.

I agree with EAmin, LOTR: EE DTS tracks are the best sounding movie tracks I've ever heard. They are extremely well thought out and the effect/music is perfectly placed. These three movies are definitely reference quality soundtracks.

If you ever want to test your sub with a nice DTS track, you want to get The Haunting. IF that doesn't shake your house to the foundation, nothing will. :T

How many you guys have done a comparison between DTS and Dolby Digital with the same movie. I havn't, and am wondering which is the most regarded in everyone's mind.

Well I don't have any doubt that DTS is better, but it is hard to tell . Some of the DTS/DD 5.1 discs can be compared but without special equipment I have found it difficult to detect much of a difference by ear, with the exception of DTS discs with a lot of LOW FREQUENCY. The higher bitrate of DTS seems to boost the low end.

Normally and this is pretty easy to hear, the sound is over all more clear, the dialog is often better, sound might be a little bit louder, and the sound stage is bigger and images better. Subwoofer tends to be a bit better as well.

Overall, I think the DTS is quite noticeable when you switch back and forth between DD <> DTS. Just use LOTR as an example and you should be able to notice the difference right away.

I have read the ‘white papers’ on DD and DTS. I had concluded that DD should sound better. However, after numerous A/B comparisons matching the output levels with a sound meter (DTS always is a few db higher), I like DTS better. If I raise the volume 2-3 db higher and boost the sub 2 db when playing DD, it is much more difficult to differentiate the two. Here is a link to a summary of the arguments that each company has made to support their format.
