Well I sent my wife out to get the movie for me since I was tied up running around with the kids. She came back with both versions....

Well I thought she did. The Superbit she had was the first movie...whoops
They were out of SUperbits in my end of town and they were out of the bonus disc.

Futurshop online is totally sold out of Superbits (and not taking orders, but fortunately BB ( www.bestbuy.ca ) is still taking orders (I just placed mine for the 22.99) I suspect it'll be on till midnight tonight. Hurry up since (central time anyway) the stores have closed. The superbits are selling really well. The advanced buzz about PQ must have gotten around or they were light on copies. Either way it's a good push towards the Superbit ideal.

If anyone in Winterpeg wants the widescreen (regular version) and couldn't find it locally I'll sell it at the 22.99 +tx's but I'll probably return it come the weekend.

Email or PM if you want it.
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Best Buy has SM 1 for $14.99 this week, and SM 2 for $17.99, both in Superbit. I picked up 1 on Sunday, and I have to go to a BB for 2 now that it's out.

I picked up the Superbit and rented the 2 disc'er from the rental store to see if the extras were worth a hoot. What extras I did see, nothing really made me say "I wish I had that to rewatch".

I watched the Superbit all the way thru last night and I'm speechless as far as the sound and picture goes. The DTS track is unbelievably better than the DD. When Doc Oct stomps around, HOLY SMOKES.

Comparing the 2, there are differences and the sound is the biggest one. There is much more fine detail on the Superbit. The packaging on the Superbit is quite good too. Not your normal silver case stuff.

Overall I'm glad I made the purchase I did and glad I trusted my online friends who saw the 2 before I did.

I did not get the extra bonus disc. I got there kinda late so I didn't get one. They opened at 9.

Watched the show last night, and it has scary awesome base on the DTS track :E :E :E Image quality was excellent, albeit a bit oversaturated at times, however that maybe the way it was filmed as it looks to be the same style as SM-1. Very crisp and clean :T

I had not seen this show before so, the DVD was the premiere. I was growing a bit tired with how much of a loser they were making Peter Parker out to be. In the end you see where they are going with it, however I think that part was overdone to the point of being pathetic. Still a good movie :T

              Bing,
I almost tend to agree with your assessment but fell for it completely. I was so wrapped up in the story that it didn't affect me much. Kudos to Sam Raimi for trying to do something intelligent and to me pulling it off. This could have been a plain jane popcorn flick, instead we get an intelligent well done action flick with a great story and great characters. Highly unrealistic but so well done you forget it is a Superhero movie.

I didn't see it at the theater but from folks I trust the oversaturated look is normal. SQ was off the charts in DTS though. WOW :E :E :jawdrop:

I picked up three copies of the Superbit version (2 for co-workers) at Best Buy yesterday. They rang up at $17.99 AND at "buy 2 get 1 free". 3 copies for less than $39! I saw on AVS that someone else experienced this at Best Buy yesterday.

Got my Superbit version at Walmart for $24.86 CDN. No Futureshop near me anyway. The Regular 2 disc SE was available for the same price. But I rarely watch extras so the Superbit was the way to go. In fact I buy every Superbit I can get my hands on.

Wow Superbit at Walmart. Thats nearly a first for that type of release. They normally don't stock them. Ours didn't even carry it.

BestBuy had the Superbit for $17.99 US last night. :T But that was the end of their 2-day discount window for Tuesday's new releases.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Where it used to be, you could go in as late as Saturday and still get release week promotional discouts, they have narrowed the window considerably. And although they have a lot of titles in their bargain displays (mostly movies no one has ever heard of) they aren't putting up nearly as many special price "yellow tags" along the regular display aisles anymore.

As for "Spider Man 2", I knew I was going to buy the DVD while I was sitting through the closing credits on opening day at the commercial theater. As for which one to get, with the Superbit edition just three bucks more than the regular edition and available the same day (at Best Buy on Tuesday), it was not an agonizing decision. :>)

Wait a tick, I missed the window for the SM2 Superbit sale at BB? I've been stuck here in bumbletown, Oklahoma all week where the nearest BB is 2.5 hours away, so I was thinking about picking it up this weekend. Prices should be good still through Saturday... let me check my flyer I picked up on Sunday.

Whew, yeah, the flyer says "Prices and offers good November 28 - December 4, 2004" on the front cover, where the Superbit price is listed, so it should work. actually, here's the flyer pages from the BB website:

I want this so bad but I cant stand looking at Kirsten Dunsts face. I end up looking away from the screen when she appeared in the 1st one. I might have to break down and buy it though.

Chris - I suggest that you buy it online ASAP and choose the delivery option to pick it up at your local store rather than hoping the local store will still be selling it at the introductory price when you get there. That way, they'll have to give it to you at the online price regardless of whatever gouging price they've jacked it up to in the store. The ad says

Even though the flyer says the prices are good through the end of the week, individual stores can basically do whatever they want. And here, they typically want to raise prices after two days. :<(

Indeed, I went to C.C. but, they didn't have the SB version, so I drove to BB, to get the SB version before they closed, I get there at 8:55 p.m. After flying down the highway, guess what, Christmas hours, the store closed @ 10:00 p.m., anyway to make a long story short, I get the SB version an it was worth the extra trip. Your mileage may literally vary.

Chris, I cant stand her face, and I think she sucks at acting. Ive always disliked her is all. Her and Drew Barrymore :M

Ill probably pick up the superbit version tonight anyways, as I have been collecting as many as I can get my hands on lately.

Watched it last night. Liked it much more than I did Spiderman 1. Felt there was more of a story here, adding more life and believability to the characters. The oversatured high contrast look was similar to Spiderman 1. Great DTS audio, too. Note how things have been setup for Spiderman 3.

Of course! This is a story series the studios are going to continue milking for sure. Let's hope it doesn't go the same way as the Batman flicks, though. (what the hell happened there, anyway? They were good through Batman Forever, and then... pppffttbtbbb)

I was able to pick up SM2 in Superbit at Best Buy for $17.99. Yay!

I quite like Kristen, because she is different looking :B

I demoed the DVD for my friend... while I was demoing, part of me didn't want to watch the entire show again, for a long time.. It's just one of those type of shows that annoys me

Much like shows like Duplex, Meet the Parents, Ms Doubt Fire... etc Something about shows like this where I don't care for the situation or character developement, and I just can't get past checking my brain, relaxing and enjoying the movie...

I guess I was the only one that really hated this movie, I bought the Superbit version unseen and what a waste of money, terrible movie. This was worse then LOR ROTK, so sappy and soap opera like, poor Spiderman. Why does the director feel the need to use 45 min of the movie making us feel sorry for him, why cant a super hero just kick ass and be done with it, I really hate it when they try to make superheroes so pitiful, and they always have to struggle with their identity. I thought the sound was over done as well, actually I’ve noticed that many new movies have overcooked sound tracks, just seems unnatural for a man with 4 arms attached to move the earth like Godzilla when walking.

The director was just staying faithful to the essence of the comic. No shame in hating it.... either you like these movies or you don't really. If you grew up on spiderman cartoons and comics then you'll appreciate it....it's a teenage soapopera...simple.
