    Terminator 3

I'm currently on the road, flying into some... uh... dirty and isolated places that don't exactly have a new movie theater on the street corner, so I haven't had a chance to see this yet.

Who's seen it? Whatcha think? Compare to 1 and 2. Differences? Can you tell that this one is not directed by Cameron?

    Please be careful with spoilers!

Chris Gordon and I went to see this last night and it ROCKS! the bass is very intense and its going to be a true reference DVD unless they really botch the transfer:T The story line picks up 10 years after the death of Sarah connor to find John a traveling drifter trying to stay off the radar. The problem is the choices he will have to make have already been decided...he just doenst' know why (oops wrong movie ) Anyway essentially there's some interesting idea's floated throught the movie about fate and destiny that are interesting though not nearly as good as the matrix ...but lets be honest we didn't pay to see Arnie think we paid to see arnie kick some serious A$$ and blow stuff up To that end T3 delivers and then some..the openning battle between the two termintors is awesom and in many ways more exciting then the freeway screne from the matrix:reloaded. From there the story continues and starts to fill in some of the holes from the other terminator movies and continues the story in a natural progression. I wasn't sure how they were going to pull it off but at least to me it worked and the ending is very cool.

Is it better then the others? No but it doesnt' dissapoint either so I'll give it :4: out of :5:

From the trailer I expected it to be a pointless, mindless sequel, meant to extend the Terminator franchise and Arnold's bankability.

I was actually just going to wait for the movie to come out on DVD, but I got invited to join some friends to see T3 a couple days ago, and expecting nothing good, I was actually pleased with the movie.

Sure it had some gaping holes, and an ending that screamed T4-to-follow!, but they did a good job with a great many things.

As expected, the special effects were excellent, but they actually did some good casting and character development, and it did have a point to the story.

I'll definitely be buying the DVD when it comes out.

      -Dean.

Yup, Andrew and I pretty much agree. I really dug where they took this. There will be oodles of demo material in the DVD I suspect.
Is it perfect?...no...but it sure is fun. Arnie develops a whole new slew of one liners ...the Terminator is his role. The action is intense...especially the crane truck scene. WOW!

I loved how Arnie said "we'll meet again" at the end. After learning what we learn...it has some weighty meaning to it.

From what I've seen so far in the sci-fi Summer films I'd say:

        1. X2...the most complete and best so far.
        2. T3
        3. Matrix
        4. Hulk

        "A RONSTER!"
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this film!

Arnold looked in fine form, and barely a day older than T2. He certainly didn't look as old has he has in some or his other films such as Eraser or The 6th day.

The power of devistation during the crane was awesome to see. We are kind of a jaded lot when it comes to this kinda wreakage as we have seen it all these days, however this was done in a new refreshing way that had me in awe.

I loved the actor that plays the new Terminator. I had read and seen nothing about T3 prior to the movie so it was a nice surprize to see a new Terminator especially when it's some hot looking girl that kicks a lot of ass. I hope we see her reprise the role in T4 I certainly didn't expect one other than Ar-nuld.

Probably the part I enjoyed the most of T3 was the humor and the way it played on the Terminator culture that has been built from T1/T2. It was nice to see the same things done in a simular yet different manner, with out feeling like a rehash, rather I found it like "ooh, I wonder how they'll pull this off" type of anticipation.

I didn't care for John Conner's character and thought of him as a rather spineless guy, typical to the whinny brat kid in T2 as a grown up. I guess that's why Katherine has to step up to plate.

          I give it :5: and :T :T

Most entertaining movie I have seen this year... However if you scanned my DVD collection you would discover that I may be slightly biased. In that collection is the Original T1, and then 3 versions of T2 ops: Not to mention the VHS versions. ops:

I liked this as well. My order would be about the same for the summer big 4 so far.

Interesting note, the film was overbudget and they were gonna cut the crane/car chase. Arnie coughed up $1.4 of his own money to keep it in the film.

            That's some team playing.

I saw T3 this weekend also. I enjoyed it pretty well, but found a lot of it derivative - as well you might in a second sequel. There was some nice work by Ahnold and Claire Danes, and yes, Ahnold looked good. The ending was a bit of a surprise, I have to admit. This film is well worth seeing just for the top notch PQ, SQ and action sequences if nothing else, but in the end (pun intended) it didn't reach the admittedly high standards of the first two. Even so, I'll be buying the DVD as soon as it's released.

              I give T3 :35: out of :5:.

One note: it was interesting to find out that men developed the prototype hunter-killer ships and not the machines.

On that topic, I found it interesting that: the machines basically come in three types: the endoskeletons, the fliers, and the giant tank tread upright models. As you note, the fliers are based on a scaled up human-conceived design. But also (and maybe you meant this too), the T1's that ran around and killed al the base personnel looked just like the giant rolling models seen in T2.

Sort of implies that while skynet was artifically intelligent, it was not artificially creative, and could only build on and refine existing designs. So when it need a very small, adaptable and mobile type unit, it copied the only other thing it had knowledge of: people. Sort of answers the question of why it makes all its "soldiers" out of fleshless endoskeletons instead of some more machine based device. Lack of imagination.

I like this because it is sort of a logical backstory point that they don't specifically explain in the normal hollywood in your face style, just kind of leave it you to pick up on.

Just saw the movie, and I have mixed feelings. here's the two sides:

EXCELLENT development of the fate, future, and destiny plot themes that have run throughout the Terminator series. I really enjoyed the setup of the end, and it allows for a good Terminator 4 story possibility.

BUT... this movie does not live up to the prior two. You can definitely tell that Cameron didn't make the movie, and it's for the worse, not just different. the movie doesn't have the same feel to it. Even the great action scenes like the driving crane scene, while overall well done and had great shots, didn't have the extra indescribable "oomph" that Cameron gives to the scene to make it more emotionally appealing. Except for the underlying Terminator plot themes I mentioned above, I wasn't drawn in and captivated by the story like the previous two.

Claire Danes has certainly grown up.

Hi all...................I saw T3 last night on DVD and I have to agree with Chris and David. I totally respect the opinions of the afore writers, but I for one was disappointed. If Cameron had anything to do with this film, this thread would still be at the top. (My opinion). I was so anxious to see this film and waited for it to come out on DVD. First I was shocked to find out it's already out, then when I fired up the DVD it didn't give me any audio options > *DD., DTS., or the usual even the optional THX intro (not that the THX would make that much difference). I hope that there is a T3 se in the works cause I for one expect more.

I think that the stunts and story lines mirrored T2. Yes the Terminator first walks into bar, yes the termintor gets his clothes from there, yes he puts the glasses on, yes the first battle with the Terminator and girl had to be in a narrow hallway, yes the chase had in involve a truck and a bike, yes they had to drive out of the city in a beatup car, please let me stop now!!

Like the Matrix I need a quick fix on this one too real fast. I hope he can find the time and better yet still act tough and rugged.

There have been several Lego-themed movies before, including animated series. I am a HUGE Lego fan, and my own feeling is that these movies have had mixed successes. Some have been cute, somewhat entertaining, but nothing I really loved. Part of the problem, IMHO, is that you're making a movie about...

A bit of back story, this film deals with a terrorist act, and was originally scheduled to be relased in early October. Well we all know what happened in September and so WB chose to push this back a few months....

I first met Jackie on "Cannonball Run". He had a very minor role and I don't believe he could speak any English at that time. However, he is such a natural born clown he had everybody laughing the little bit of time he was on the set. At that time I had never seen a Jackie Chan movie. Later...

This may be a good discussion. The topic is popular books that have been made into movies. By and large, my personal opinion is that movie renditions of good books fall far short for a few reasons. First, I think due to the media of print, books allow for a much more thorough immersion of the reader...
