Zellweger set for 'Bridget 2'

Renee Zellweger will star in a sequel to "Bridget Jones's Diary," according to the New York Post.

Zellweger, who put on between 15 and 30 pounds for her role as the British "thirtysomething," will pack on the pounds again for "The Edge of Reason."

"I'll put the weight back on with pleasure," she told the New York Post. "I'm ready, willing, and able. Bridget's a character I really identify with."

The character is based on Helen Fielding's book about a frustrated single woman seeking love, and the sequel will be based on the best-seller's follow-up.

Zellweger's willingness to revisit the role wasn't always so enthusiastic. Last year the native Texan told a reporter: "There is no way I am going to put on all that weight again." She will make a reported $20 million for the film.

"The Edge of Reason" is expected to be released in summer 2004.

Zellweger won a Golden Globe on Sunday for her starring role in "Chicago."

If you saw Rene in "Chicago", it looks like she'll need to put on more like 30 lbs; it's the skinniest I've ever seen her! Also the most muscular.

She did all her singing and dance routines in that movie (as did Gere and Zeta Jones); quite the talented lady... 8)

Now, if I could get 20 million for one gig, I know what I'd do-

Rene's a little cutie pie. Glad she won that Golden Globe. I am really looking forward to the CHICAGO dvd release. It will be a collector's item for me, what with Rene, that gorgeous Catherine Zeta and Richard ( the dancer ) Gere, who also won a Golden Globe.

Like Moulin Rouge, perhaps Chicago will encourage film-makers to produce some more musicals.

Absolutely fantastic!!! First of all, I really enjoyed BJD and my wife is nutso over it. The casting of the original was right on. Loosely based on Pride and Prejudice, I'd also recommend seeing the Arts and Entertainment production of the original (also starring Colin Firth and, last I looked had an IMBD rating of 9.1).
