Welcome David to At the Movies

Please welcome David Meek as the new moderator of At the Movies. I recognized that if this section is to be a success, it needed an active leader.

Jason just hasn't been around much lately, so I did what I thought was right, making this change.

    Welcome David!

    Lex

    Thanks Lex! 8O

Hi all - I'll try to keep things bouncing along in here. Think I'll put a few posts out to get a feel for what everyone at HTG likes in movies. . . I'll be back shortly.

Welcome to the Mod Squad, David. here's a little advice. Don't get discouraged if you find there are no, or few responses to your posts. This is a problem at DVD Director, too. As our numbers grow I expect we will see more activity at both these sites. The thing is to just keep on posting. Some of the other sites combine DVD and Movies in one department, and I have noticed things are slow in both these categories at other sites. This is likely due to the fact that ( in the case of dvd anyway) releases have been poor since Christmas.
Anyway, have fun. Even if you don't get any replies, you'll attract lookers.
      Best wishes,
      George

        Hi George,

What, me discouraged? Nah, I'm the chatty type. I'll just get my post count up fast by putting out a lot of reviews, comments, polls, etc...

U mean tire kickers, right George?

Well, sure, we could have combined the two I suppose, but I think separation is good. After all, that way we got one more good mod.

Coincidentally, we now have 2 moderators from Houston. David and Burke. We also have Canucks that share the same cities, but who can remember the names of those places, Saskatiwhatchimidoodletown

Welcome to the Mod Squad. And posting reviews is the only way to truely increase your post count.

Yeah, Burke and I get together for lunches and dinners every so often, and at almost all the Houston HT meets. Just call us the "South Texas Mafia"... oh wait, that was president Lyndon Johnson's group wasn't it?

Thanks Paul, I'm glad to be here.

Lex, I didn't mean to suggest you combine movies and dvd, I like it fine the way it is.

Welcome aboard as a Moderator, David. (I guess that leaves about three members at HT Guide who are NOT moderators?) :>) I'm sure you'll have fun, and do well, with "At the Movies".

                      Burke

PS -- The washroom at Nit Noi doesn't require a special key. Just a map to find it. :>)

You know, we could always rotate who's just an active member and who's a moderator- sort of like musical chairs or something!

                        Seriously, welcome aboard David!

From experience, I'd say we get the mop for the restrooms before we get the key to the executive washroom, though!

                        Best regards,

                        Jon

                            Welcome, David.

I supposed we can use the new "spoiler" tags in this area to cover over movie endings that others don't want to see.

IMO, it would be appropriate to use the spoiler feature not just for "endings" but for ANY details (such as intricate plot twists or "surprise" special effects midway through the movie) that would "ruin" the enjoyment of a first time viewing of a movie under discussion. And that goes for "classics" as well as new releases because not everyone has seen them all!

Well, I hope that the spoiler function is used ANY time someone discusses plot developments for movies. Heck, not just here but over in the DVD portion too. There are tons of DVD-based movies I haven't seen yet.

FWIW, I'm not going to be a martinet about it, but it's just courtesy, ya' know?
