Disney Star Wars EpVII Dec 18 2015

    Hello all,
Some of the original cast is back from what I have read, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Even Billy Dee Williams. I find this to be very cool and wonder if anyone knows anything about the story? From IMDB it looks like Leia and Han got married as she took his last name. Other then that I know nothing.

    Anyone got anything to add?

Just finished some google searches and it seems EP 7 will focus mostly on Han, Leia and Luke.

Being one who read almost all the books that were written for the post EP 6 timeline and became official cannon for the story, its going to be hard to swallow a new story that ignores all this. For those that are not aware, there are about 80 books that traverse about 40 years AFTER EP 6 in print. So I don't see Disney dedicating a film to each. While I don't know this for certain to be the case, I suspect it.

At the same time, a 3 film series that merely pushed the timeline 3 or 4 books into the cannon of the book series wouldn't offer anything new for me either although I would solute the continuity.

Whatever direction they go, book cannon or something completely new, I cant see myself having anything other than a mixed take on it.

I'll tell you what I'm hoping for.
        1) Leia and Han had children, both strong in the force.
        2) Luke goes to Tython and re opens the Jedi Academy.
        3) Luke Trains Leia's Kids.
        4) Luke discovers over the years force abilities in others and brings them to the Temple.
        5) Luke teaches a class on how to build a Light Saber.
        6) Leia Gets trained as a Jedi Sage.

These are some very cool things I'd like to see in the movie but I won't hold my breath. I will however go into them with a completely open mind as I did with Ep1-3. I like to take the Stories as they are and not judge them on what they are not. I grew up a Star Wars fan and saw all 6 movies in the Theater on release dates.

I'm pretty excited to have new Star Wars movies no matter where they go with them.

Your hopes 1-6 all more or less happen in the books.

Yep, the Jedi Academy trilogy is great, and my favorite is the Timothy Zahn trilogy. Would love to see that one become reality. Also the storyline from The Force Unleashed video game series is pretty awesome, though is more filler for prequels and between episodes 3-4. Exciting times for Star Wars fans!

              +1 on the Zahn Trilogy

Of ALL the books I read, this might be the best of the lot. And its timeline is not that long after the events of EP 6.

It makes too much sense so Disney wont go there

Female with light-colored ear flaps were considered attractive by male Gungans, while the ones with dark-colored haillu were thought of as 'boyish'.[2] As male Gungans aged some, like Roos Tarpals, they developed prominent whiskers, resembling those of a catfish.[source?] Both sexes had a lifespan of 65 galactic standard years.[3]

But don't we know Disney is going to put some character in there to appeal to young kids. Could be worse than that idiot Binks.

Well, that point aside, I am sure the CGI guys are going to have their hands full trying to make Han, Leia and Luke look 30 years younger.

Yeah, that's just one of the things I'm worried about. JJ Abrams putting a different personalized "feel" on the film(s) is only one of many more.

Too bad the SW films don't give us the pleasure of a Jar Jar death scene.

While the script will determine much, if JJ changes SW to the same degree he changed ST, I will be very unhappy.

Well, there's bound to be disappointment somewhere, for I was quite happy with Abram's take on Trek, and I'm a huge fan of TOS. There is very little chance that the new Star Wars movie will have unanimous support among long-time fans.

                                          New info on www.StarWars.com.

We get Episode VII, "The Force Awakens", on Dec 18, 2015. Then we get a stand-alone Star Wars film that won't be in the series sequence, "Rogue One", December 16, 2016. After that, we'll get Episode VIII on May 26, 2017, 40 years after the release of Ep IV.

While I'm happy about getting new Star Wars films, this only makes me more nervous, particularly this stand-alone film. Will it be the equivalent of "Planes, set in the universe of Cars, but not a Pixar film"? Following this, will we get Rogue Two, direct to DVD, then a third-rate series "Rogue: Girl Power" posted to the internet, not even good enough to put out on video? (ahem... "Cinderella 4?")

I'm so nervous that Disney will slowly destroy and degrade the Star Wars franchise to squeeze out every drop of money like they've done with other series, but put out worse and worse quality stuff as spin-offs. They damn well better not f&#ck this one up.

This may be an interesting bit of trivia for some.....

I discovered just this week that GL had originally wanted Christopher Walken to play the role of Han Solo.

With no intent to disparage Harrison Ford's credible work, to my pleasures, Mr. Walken would have transformed the entire epic in the best of ways.

I recall an SNL skit where Walken does play Solo. It must be on YouTube. It is very funny.

My guess is, they're just keeping him under wraps until the actual film release, for maximum visual impact on screen. But lots of options. Has Luke died? Has he become more machine than man, like what happened to Vader? Are we going to see the storyline of "Darth Skywalker", like apparently what happens in the books?

Okay, I'm a total geek. There are 135 theaters across the US and Canada that are going to be showing an all-in, 7-movie Star Wars marathon on December 17th, the day before the release. All 6 existing films on IMAX, ending in the new Ep VII in 3D. I just bought my tickets - $50 each!!! Movies starting at 4 AM, and I'll probably have to camp out for decent seats in the December cold. That's hard core. But come on. Is there really anything more special than a Star Wars movie premier? A true experience. And by the way, everyone that buys their tickets today gets an extra entry into a sweepstakes to win a trip to the Hollywood premiere. Here's the info and one of the purchase links for the Regal theater chain:

However, I have all the movies (and, no doubt, will add Ep. VII), so someday my kids and I will do our own marathon. I did one back in 1991 for the 25th anniversary of Star Trek (50th is just around the corner--yikes :jawdrop: ) and it was a lot of fun. Enjoy.
