Some summer films that look interesting

I went to see Hurt Locker today. Some of the trailers for films about to come out look interesting. What caught my attention are:

It May Get Loud: Jimmy Page, Jack White, The Edge. Guitar documentary

Taking Woodstock: Comedy about behind the scenes at Woodstock.

Shutter Island: Thriller directed by Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio

Of course trailers can be misleading.

By the way, Hurt Locker is the best film I've seen this summer. But, my taste is different than most of the posters here. I fell asleep for about 5 minutes during Public Enemy at about the forty minute mark and walked out shortly after. Lasted 45 minutes with Transformers at the Cinerama Dome before walking out. Lasted all the way through Terminator and then wished I would have left the theater.

I liked all the films you walked out on, save Terminator (I assume the latest one), and Hurt Locker is one of the best films I've seen in 5 years. This should be a the top of anyones summer movie list.

I really do want to see Hurt Locker but more then likely I'll wait until it comes out on Video.

I didn't see it in the theaters. I have a friend, well you know.

I will definitely be purchasing this when it comes out on disc though.

This is Kathryn Bigelow's take on the war in Iraq. ( BTW, Kathryn is James Cameron's ex ) It follows three bomb squad soldiers in Bravo Company who deal with IEDs. Jeremy Renner is the sergeant who wears the suit and diffuses the bombs, while Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty are the lookouts and protectors....

Three recent films that achievied 5 star status to this viewer

I know I have quirky tastes, but here are short reviews of three films, each of which I bought blind, that I absolutely love. All three are foreign films, so, if you're into that kind of thing, you might give them a try...at least if you can find them for rental. Really don't know if anyone else would...

          Favourite classic films?
          by Ovation
I've been on a bit of a classic film run lately (mostly early Hitchcock, but a few others) and while I have a reasonable number of such films on my shelf, I'm curious to know if there are any I should at least rent, if not add to my collection.

Basically, what are your favourite classic...

          Restoration Of Films

I was watching The Big Country last night. I feel it qualifies as a classic western and was disappointed at the transfer. Obviously the original print is not in very good shape. The image was dark and the technicolor very drab. This film cries for a restoration, but I understand this is a very expensive...

A cautionary tale of summer travel and "summer colds".

Recently we traveled to Seattle to visit wife's daughter's family there- just a short stop over, driving on Thursday, staying on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and driving home on Monday.

It was a good opportunity to connect in person with extended conversation- many folks are not really...
