    The Trickle Down Is Funny

    Big Budget Block Buster

    Big Director

    Big Stars

    Big Special Effects

    Big Gala Premire

Big Ads and Promotions (Previews - Print - Television - Soda Cups)

So I end up watching this Big Budget Block Buster in a relatively new, but already somewhat tired theater with sticky carpet and sacked out seats. Staffing is with very minimal with employees that are generally indifferent at best. Space image is projected onto seems like it needs to be retreated, resurfaced or something.

Gone are the theaters of old, replaced by the theaters now... replaced by the Home Theater ;x(

That could be a result of the 1980s trickle down formula which by the time anything got to the citizens there was nothing left.

Same in the movie theater industry with corporate profits up and consumer satisfaction down.

I 'm working on a project to replace the speakers that came with my Onkyo HT-800. My wife has decreed that they do not match the furniture.

I started out by looking that the Bose Buster project with with a 5.1 setup in mind. Then I got it into my head that I could do better. So here...

      Recession Buster Reference Build
      by Rolex
A while back I posted a question asking about speakers to build. I had completed the Zaph L18, the Zaph SR71, the Tony Gee Extremon and I was looking for my next two way. I had also done a few designs with the Siilver Flute 5 1/2" woofer. I wasn't really sure which direction I wanted to head. Jed...

      What do movie theaters/cinemas use?
      by rotel&energy
I always wondered what kind of gear movie theaters and cinemas use. I'm assuming they have multiple channels with many more speakers and much more power than a home theater setup. Does anyone know any specifics on what gets installed in movie theaters or how they do surround sound, amps, etc. in theaters?...

Worried about my concrete block/mortar wall
      by SteveL
I've got a good jump on my dedicated HT construction, but now I'm starting to worry about things... I'm building the HT in my basement, and it will have finished dimensions of 15' W x 21' D x 8.5' H.

The "front" of the HT will be on the "wall" of my house that is...
