I always wondered what kind of gear movie theaters and cinemas use. I'm assuming they have multiple channels with many more speakers and much more power than a home theater setup. Does anyone know any specifics on what gets installed in movie theaters or how they do surround sound, amps, etc. in theaters? Just curious.

Amps and speakers are linely to be pro/sound reinforcement brands like JBL, QSC, Crown, Electro-Voice, etc.

Klipsch, JBL and Altec Lansing are very popular down here. Amps are usually Crown or QSC, Halfer etc.Comment

I think our local stuff here is all JBL, that is usualy what I have been able to read. The stadium seat theater's sound awesome.____________________

My daughter is only 6 weeks old and I'm wondering if movie theaters are a danger to her hearing? This could be movies in a commercial theatre or at home in my basement theatre.
