    What do movie theaters/cinemas use?

I always wondered what kind of gear movie theaters and cinemas use. I'm assuming they have multiple channels with many more speakers and much more power than a home theater setup. Does anyone know any specifics on what gets installed in movie theaters or how they do surround sound, amps, etc. in theaters? Just curious.

Amps and speakers are linely to be pro/sound reinforcement brands like JBL, QSC, Crown, Electro-Voice, etc.

In my home theater I am using the 3678 system with 3310 surrounds, and 2 4645B subs and it sounds great...

Klipsch, JBL and Altec Lansing are very popular down here. Amps are usually Crown or QSC, Halfer etc.

Just wanted to clarify some older posts about Movie Posters. Virtually all modern "Double Sided" posters, specifically the "1 Sheet" size (either 27" x 40" or 27" x 41"), were not made for viewing from both sides, as the poster image is reversed on the back. This...

I saw this movie this weekend. I've seen a few different reviews by people, some not all that hot (B-, C+) discussing this as "the new Julia Roberts Movie". And then they complain about how small a role Julia Roberts had in this movie.

Here's a rant on ticket prices. On the weekend I found out that ticket prices went up again. Here's the various prices that I'm faced with in my area (in Canadian$)

                  Regular theater:
                  Full price: $11.00
                  Weekend Matinee: $8.25
                  Weekday Matinee: $7.00

My daughter is only 6 weeks old and I'm wondering if movie theaters are a danger to her hearing? This could be movies in a commercial theatre or at home in my basement theatre. Obviously loud noises are a concern for us all but are newborns more susceptible to damage even at lower volumes? I've tried...
