Rambo - Is it worth going and seeing this film?

    Hi

Rambo Returns To The Big Screen Here In The Uk On The 22nd Feb But It Is Already Out In The U.s. After More Than Two Decades The Tough Guy Has Returned To What He Does Best!

Do You Think It Was A Good Idea Of Him Returning To The Role Of Playing The Army Veteran ' John Rambo'?

To Me I Think He's Past It, Come On He's Almost 55 Or 60, But I Again Don't Think There Is Any Other Action Hero Who Is Capable Of Doing These Type Of Physical Films Better Than Sylvestor Stallone.

Anyway Tell Me Whether Is It Worth Going And Seeing This Film On The Big Screen?

    Thanks

    Yas

I plan to wait for the dvd release. His return to the Rocky character turned out to be a pretty good idea filmwise, so maybe he is hoping for the same results with the Rambo character. I hear it is more violent than any of the other Rambo movies.

Critical reaction has generally been negative (unlike the latest Rocky film where a slight majority was positive) but a few major critics have given it a good review--including A.O. Scott at the NYTimes (IIRC). I'm not a fan of the series, though I think First Blood was okay. I've never even seen the third one (saw the second one at the cinema for the one and only time) so this won't be a priority for me. However, if Scott says it has redeeming qualities, it is likely worth a look from fans.

I'm a huge fan of the author, David Morrell, whose book was bastardized into the original movie. Did you know that Rambo was killed in the end of First Blood in the book?

He writes some EXCELLENT stuff. I'll probably do the new Rambo as a rental someday.

Whoa! That's a bit of a plot change if I do say so.

Chris, I didn't know Morrell wrote Rambo. Have you read his Totem? It is one fine horror story IMO.

Hmmm, I wonder if someone could compile one of those for all the action/adventure/shoot-em-ups. : Would the Die Hard series compete well?

I got a good chuckle out of that chart, too. Reminds me of the movie "Hot Shots" where there's a scene making fun of Rambo and other "shoot-em-up" movies, racking up the bodycount.

Actually, yeah, I've read (and own) just about all of his books. I just missed a chance to meet him in person a couple of years ago, unfortunately. Morrell is one of my all-time favorite authors. Very, very good writer.

My personal favorites may be "Brotherhood of the Rose" and "Fraternity of the Stone". Good spy-type books, that I remember very fondly from my childhood. I need to read them again and see if they're as good as I remember.

Hmm,wonder how the stats would show for say like movies such as the wild bunch and cross of iron? Of course these films are not the over the top blasters so the count wont be as high.

In general, I agree. But on the other hand, look at Toy Story 2, Indiana Jones 3, Terminator 2... (Police Academy 9?)

Rambo: The Old Codger Is Back!

                                    Hi movie fans,

Has anybody actually gone and seen the new Rambo movie and is it worth going and seeing?

I've heard, that it's meant to be one hell of a violent movie. With more blood and violence than any other Rambo film of the past.

                                    So be warned!

                                    Thanks

depends if his cane or wheel chair gets in the way of his gun toting.

                                      the chart is funny.

No I'm not spamming. Anyway what is spamming?

If you say you're not spamming, then in the next sentence you ask what it is. lol!
I'm surprised you dont know what spamming is. Its as old as the internet
Its when you flood the forum with repeated, identicle posts over and over again and it gets to the point where it becomes completely irrelevant. Imagine if someone repeatedly kept posting the same thing over and over again. It causes forum admin to work hard to keep forums "spam free"

                                                      No offence
