    American Gangster

A very interesting film, based on a true story. Good performances by Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Worth a watch.

It is about a real life person who develops the heroin trade in Harlem and does it on his own, by obtaining the drugs directly from the source. It shows how he grows this business and the contrast between the character as a drug dealer and family man. Russell Crowe is the law enforcement officer who tracks him and his group throughout the movie. I think it is worth seeing. It is a very interesting story and the acting is great.

          Saw it Today

We saw it today, part of wifes birthday weekend. Enjoyed it quite a bit, nothing radical about the story or perfomances, but very solid movie as far as story and performances. It's a bit of a longer movie, but at no point did it drag, I like a long movie if it's interesting. I thought besides Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe the rest of the performances we're good, it was good to see Sol (from Deadwood) doing a good role in a movie. As enjoyable as it was, I don't think it would be a movie I would buy. I think for myself there wasn't any special quailites that would make me want to watch it repeatedly.

Not available on Blu as yet, but I bought it on standard dvd anyway. Watched it last night and really liked it. Great acting by Denzel Washington as a real life powerful drug dealer and Russel Crowe as an honest cop who heads up a special investigation unit intent on taking down Washington's organization....

Arrrrrgh... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: This is a decent movie, that centers on a major event of a plane crash, but is really all about the lead character played by Denzel Washington and the massive demons he carries of addictions. No spoiler there--Robert Zimeckis puts that blatantly right...

A diverting and entertaining action movie, with good onscreen chemistry between Chris Pine and Denzel Washington. Worth a rental or a bargain bin purchase (I'm unlikely to watch it again but I would not protest if I were at someone's house and they wanted to play it while I was there).
