I've seen bits of it, but as I came into it late I haven't wanted to watch it until I can see it from the beginning. FWIW, it looks really good.

I've been watching it since the beginning. Occasionally a bit too much of a soap opera. Other than that it's great .. :T

The acting is first rate, sets and costuming are wonderful.

The 13th soldiers were literally trained as an army (boot camp and everything). They were only allowed what hygienic products were available at the time. They were made to bath in the ocean.

So in addition to a good drama it's an interesting period piece. (Though English accents are a bit strange at times  )

And yes the season finale' was 'real' theater....... 8O

I've been watching it since the beginning as well. I absolutely loved the series. Anyone know if there will be a second season, or is it over? The suicide at the end of the last one was really upsetting...

I have to agree on the english accents, made me think they were trying to make it seem like a graphic version of the Shakespearean drama.

Over? Nope, just the end of the first season. Remember the title is "Rome", not Caesar's final days .....

Man I love this series :T We purchased season 2 a few months ago and decided to watch season 1 again before watching season 2. Season 1 DVD set was a gift (to me from my wife) some time ago and Season 2 DVD set was a more recent gift (for the wife). The first time was watched was during a limited free...

Series at the level of Rome and Band of Brothers
              by thadman
I picked up the first two seasons of Rome and Band of Brothers for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed them. They have renewed my interest in movies. Are there any series that come close to the level that these two shows have achieved in terms of plot, character development, etc that you'd recommend?

I'll cut right to the chase: this is a powerful, impacting movie, and if you are a fan of war movies you should see it. Period. If you are a fan of well thought-out, realistic and technically accurate movie making, then go see

If you were to own another pair of speakers (not B&W) which would it be?
              by rodH
OK, if price were not as much of an object as it is now (I am currently running N804), the speakers I have been MOST impressed with, EVER are the Wilson Watt Puppies. I was in a high end store and they actually carried 3 brands that I am/was really interested in (B&W, Wilson, and Revel).

My One Word Review for "We Were Soldiers": Brutal.

Thank goodness director Randall Wallace didn't feel the need for going with that overdone blue filter and gave us some of the scariest war battle scenes shot in natural sunlight and darkness. There was a bit a slow-motion action...
