    Smokey & The Bandit

Any fans of these old car chase movies? They are quite dated today but still have some funny lines, especially from Sheriff Buford T. Justice.

"She insulted my town, she insulyed my son...nuthin' but but pure and simple, plain old fashion communism!"

"Happens everytime one of them dancers starts poontangin' around with them showfolk fags!!"

Bandit to big and little Enos Burdette "It must have been a real bitch getting a 68 extra, extra fat and a size 12 dwarf" :B

The first movie was fun, new, charismatic and had lots of star-power. It was something to be enjoyed . The sequels predictably went downhill IMO. Way downhill. I'd hoped that the original would get the full treatment when its DVD was released, but it was one of Universal's and they just re-mastered it off the laser-disc with predictable results. Dolby 2.0, to boot. Oh well, I can still hope for a tricked-out SE version, can't I?

Favorite "Smokey and the Bandit" (SATB) quote:

"When you say something, how stupid you are depends on where you are standing in these United States."

Most dedicated fan I've encountered in "real life" (aka "not on the web"):

I once worked with a fellow who said he watched SATB almost every weekend. The ones when he didn't watch it, he was reportedly watching one of the sequels. I pretty much believe that's what he did, because when we took an informal poll around the office about which ten movies were the "greatest ever", he named "SATB" for all ten spots.

More evidence: He had an SATB poster on the back of his office door. His phone message had the SATB theme playing in the background. When the office pooled resources to buy a coworker a going away present and let him pick it out, he got a copy of SATB. Amazingly enough, he hates Coors beer, but guess what kind of car he drove for several years. :>)

Sounds like an early example of a fanboy. In fairness I would have to admit that a new Burt Reynolds comedy was something to look forward to,...until Stroker Ace came along, lol. :B

It was also good in those days because they used actual cars for stuntwork, the computer graphics animation in the new Dukes of Hazzard film looks ridiculous. No substitute for taking an actual 4,000 lb car and making it grab some air! :T

So I've got a bit of an unusual question for everyone with regards to audio outside the home. I work in an office where portable media players and other portable/personal electronic devices are strictly forbidden (and result in *instant* termination if found!), and I work the night shift a couple days...

We have a challenge--there is a petition in the Studio Feedback section of HTF to get Fox to release a 16:9 Special Edition of OFFICE SPACE, the cult classic comedy about cubicle life.

We need to get this thread up to 200 posts by the end of the week, so tell all your Office Space fan...

                  Office 'headphones' and stealth sub
                  by GeorgeS
I posted quite some time ago asking for suggestions for an office sub. Thomas recommended a Blueprint 1003, which I thought would be great but somewhat larger than I was planning to build. Having discovered a cache of top secret 'stealth coating' I was able to make the little titan completely disappear....

The sci-fi comedy The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy thumbed a ride into the top spot at the North American box office on Sunday, leaving the XXX action sequel in the dust.

But the surprisingly strong $21.7 million bow by the adaptation of the famed Douglas Adams book, combined with...

The epic battle tale Kingdom of Heaven fought its way to the top of the box office, taking in $20 million in its debut weekend, but the film did little to boost slumping revenues at the start of the summer movie season.

The film by Gladiator director Ridley Scott features heartthrob Orlando...
