    Ok, I will admit it.

    I run a Sony TA-N9000ES 5 channel amp, rated at 5 x 115 watts @ 8 Ohms.
It also weighs just under 25 kg.

This amps retail price was about $2150 Australian dollars, when new and I have found it to be a more versatile amp than any other amp I have seen.

The Sony can also be run in 2 channel mode, 3 channel mode or 4 channel mode. It can also be bridged to put out 2 x 210 watts per channel and also has an additional set of stereo inputs to run a seperate 2 channel preamp.

I have compared the sound of it in 2 channel mode to a Rotel Rb990bx amp
which is 2 x 200 @ 8 Ohms and did not hear much difference.

Perhaps a little more control in the bass area with the Rotel but that was about it.

I do not know much about other Sony equipment but this one seems to be a very clever amp which does a pretty good job.

Perhaps its not up there with the best, but it has done a good job for me so far and doesnt seem far off the pace soundwise.

If Sony gear can compete with the others soundwise and cost wise, I am interested.

Anyone else game to admit they own Sony gear ? LOL

    Pete
