I'm in the middle of the common debate, 1055 vs. 1066. I have to admit, the non-linear measurements of the 1055 shown in this review (roll-off below 40Hz, etc), and in the Hi-Fi News receiver showdown (downloadable at Rotel's site) are a bit scary to me. Even weirder, the Hi-Fi News review measures the 1055 with a slight bass-lift at 20Hz, the opposite of the roll-off measured here. I know measurements aren't everything, but I wonder if the 1066 might measure better as a two-channel pre-amp (this is important to me). Also, the Hi-Fi review has some scary tidbits about the Bass Redirection (it seems to add too much to the sub's signal when any speakers are set to small), which would likely be the same in both the 1055 and 1066 since they share the same processing. Argh.

Look, people are making a way bigger deal of this bass stuff than it really is. I researched this ad nauseum before buying my Rotel.

Even if you had electronics with perfect bass response, you would stiil not
obtain it in your room. All speaker/room interactions are different. With a little time spent during set-up and some tweaking you should be able to get a decent bass response -- especially if you have the flexibility a sub will allow.

If you want the Rotel, do not let this deter you. These bass goblins are not invincible.

better idea (1055) or better off (1066)
          by Clyde
Ok... [assumption alert!] considering the 1055 is the low power reciever with the same internals (pre /pro section) as the 1066 and has the tuner section and is cheaper than the 1066... what is the pitfall / logic to getting a 1055 instead of a 1066? I would be able to get a nice 200 watt two-channel...

RSX-1055 Review - Has this problem been fixed?
          by PeterB
I was all ready to join the club and buy a 1055 when I read a review from HiFi News (a UK publication) that someone had posted on another forum.

Hi all of you RSX 1055 and RSX 1056 owners,

Sound difference BTWN 1066 and 1075
          by jonnyz1245
think I will notice a sound difference going from RSX 1055 to a dedicated amp like the 1075 and then keeping the 1055 or getting a 1066.

I will be running Paradigm studio 40s/20s/Studio CC and Sub.

I am sort of rephrasing my previous question on the upgrade.

          by eelco74
          Hi guys....

I am looking to simplify my system.

I now have a Rotel rc-972 pre and rb981 power amp combination
I also have a Denon 3801 for DVD and my Xbox games.
The Denon drives all channels except for the fronts
The front-pre out of the denon goes...
