Can you turn off the front display on an RDV 1060?

    Hi all,

One feature I really like on my RSP 1068 is that I can turn off the front display by holding down the menu button . I have been entertaining the idea of purchasing an RDV 1060. Can anyone tell me if the RDV 1060 (or any Rotel DVD player) has a defeatable front display? Actually, I'm curious... does the RCD 1072 have a defeatable display? (My RCD 1070 doesn't).

    Thanks for your help!!

P.S. There is snow in them thar hills :jawdrop: !

Straight from the manual, which is nicely located on Rotel's site, should other questions arise that you need a quick answer to:

    DIMMER
The brightness of the front panel display can
be reduced to avoid distraction while viewing
    in a darkened room.
To adjust, use the CURSOR buttons to select
a setting on the vertical slider control on the
right side of the menu screen. A setting of “1”
is the brightest setting. A setting of “7” is the
dimmest setting. The “OFF” setting turns the
    front panel display off.
Now that's in the setup menu, so there isn't a easy toggle button, but you could easily leave it at 7 or 6 and not notice it..

Not sure on the 1072, I'll let you check that manual...

Dear Rotelians, I need again your help.

After five months of use, my RDV-1060 stopped reading any disks.

I sent it to the Spanish distributor through my local dealer and they have agreed to replace it for a new one, but I just want to make sure the new unit brings the latest...

I need advice on Rotel DVD player. If the price was non issue, which is the better player, RDV 1080, RDV 1060 or RDV 1045, and can you tell me why? I'll be pairing up one of these with RSX 1057 and the display is Pioneer PDP-5070. One last bit of note is that I will be using it for both DVD watching...

        RDV-1060 HDCD support?
        by Chili
        Hi!
I got my first Rotel product last week when I bought the RSX-1065. I know that it supports HDCD, and when I tried one in my current dvd-player (cheap JVC) it had "HDCD" in the display. I'm going to buy the RDV-1060, so my question is this: Do I need a HDCD compatible dvd-player...

Anyone having problems with their RDV-1060?
        by aramb
I have had my RDV-1060 since they first came out. A couple of days ago, I started having a problem playing some new DVD-Audio discs that I had purchased. I thought maybe it was a defective couple of discs, as all my other DVD-As still played fine. Then my wife said that some discs sounded like they...

Problem with RDV-1060 when controlled by RS232

        HI

I would be very interested to hear if any one who has a RDV-1060 controlled via RS232, are having problems with the unit display and control locking up or all the illumination going out, yet the unit will still work via 232. I have set up some soak tests with my own unit and also a...
