1098 the new firmware??

MY HTPC died and cruel death!

So I have to re-install windows .. .and if I do that i might as well upgrade the mobo and cpu... and re-install all the apps ... dscaler... dvd decrypter .. ffdshow .. xlobby ... girder ... pstrip .. ALL the windows updates!!

Then I will do the 1098 firmware!

Hi,

You will find that the behaviour of the settings to turn the TFT Display on and off is now different. If you turn it off with the SETUP it will stay OFF (ie backlight off and BLACK) for ever. There are some other subtle changes in its behavior when turns on and off using the MENU key long press etc all focussed on allowing those who want the TFT to be BLACK to have it BLACK.

This has been a big deal for some users... (the No. 1 voted upgrade in the Wish List). Others (like me ) don't really care...

The last surround mode of each multi-channel encoded source (disc) is
memorized,
and when the disc is replaced, it goes to the last memorized surround
mode to all input function.

example )
When user set DD+ PLIIx M surr mode with DD5.1 disc at Video 1 input,
and he turns to other input (Video 4) with another DD 5.1 disc,
the surr mode of Video 4 turns to DD+PLIIx M automatically.

ver takes forever to update

don't load correctly takes a very long time then cursor gets hung up and don't move.

doesn't seems to be a big upgrade, just a minor one, nothing like the wish list. ..

I will wait until the new software is officially on the Rotel site.
Besides that, I am still very happy with the RSP 1098 but still hope to see a hardware upgrade for the I-link connection. The new Denon 3910 finally seems to have all that I ever dreamed off and I am strongly thinking of an upgrade after years of patience waiting for "the" DVD player.

I installed the update today. screen showing 2.1.3;-) but the date 12april 2004.. why wait so long?. what do I do to keep the display off?
