If you use the 12v trigger between the RSP1066 and your amp then the amp will automatically turn off (although the light stays on, but you will hear it turning off once).
I dont see any pro's for leaving it on, especially when using the Cons are unneeded power usage and wear of the amp.
Some people talk about leaving it on because otherwise the tranformer heats up and cools down too much, but this is normal use anyway, so the amp will last long time.- Bottom

The advanage to leaving any amp on, is it's warmed up and ready to produce best sound when you use it. Certainly, there are justifiable reasons not to leave it on. Some amps have standby modes, that run enough juice through to keep the circuits warm, but not idle to produce full power. But if you don't have that feature, well, it's your choice.
I'm sure there's valid arguements for both ways. Turning them on and off, does stress some circuits more likely, but leaving them on, can stress others perhaps. Electrical power consumption is a consideration as well.
Were it me, I'd likely use the trigger and power it down, then just turn both on when you come home, so they are ready and warm to use when your ready. Turn off at night before bed. Best of both worlds.

From the Rotel FAQ
What is the power consumption of this amplifier when in standby?
When using the 12 volt trigger the standby consumption is approximately 3 watts. Without the 12 volt trigger the amplifiers power consumption at idle is approximately 97 watts.- Bottom

What Lex suggests is usually what happens here. So its turned off when I'm not home and usually I put on music when I come back home so turn it on.
However I hear not much sound difference from just starting the amp and when played for an hour or so.
So, just turn the things off and save some energy when you are not using the system. Turn it on if you want to use it and possibly wait a few minutes for the thing to warm up. (Although I never feel my RB1070 warm up externally much even though it plays for hours, my RMB1075 also hardly warms up externally)- Bottom

by madmacAnyone leave the power on all the time on their amps?. Ever since I moved into my new place, I basically leave my Rotel amp on all the time. Same for my CD player. I'm of the opinion that turning gear on and off causes more potential problems/ damage that just leaving it on. Same for my Sony RPTV. When...-

by HerbonbayA question for everyone. Do you leave your amp on? If so, whats your reasoning? Generally , once I turn mine on, I leave it on all day, assuming that start up and shut down creates more stress than sitting on and idle. I also like the fact that it's always warm and ready. I often wonder if I should...-

by AmrasI have a 993 which does not have a trigger. What are the positives/negatives to leaving an amp on?
Will it shorten the life of the amp?
Thanks

by tbyrneI have a six year old Marantz SR4300 HT receiver which works fine as a HT receiver, but seems a bit underpowered for my new B&W 684s. Actually, I think the Marantz eventually makes plenty of power, but I really need to turn it WAY up to get it to play loud (from its baseline –72 db to about –5...-
