I'm in the "Club" now hehe, just starting to build my *first* system, havnt got anything else yet so I can only stare at it.. but couldnt let this deal go, found a guy 30 minutes from me with a RB-1080 and an RC-1090, asking $1600 Canadian, I raced over, less then a year old, mint condition used in his office (hardly used)

Hi Xixel, the set look really nice especially in black. Now you need to go get a nice pair of speakers to go with it

          Looks good Kevin!

That's an interesting way to do the couches... I think I sort of like it!

Is there any way you can make the photos larger when you pull them up for viewing?

This is my setup....pretty old-school compared to most of the gear in this forum but nonetheless still Rotel.

The TV, DVD, and Speakers were recently purchased new, however, when I first became interested in Rotel and HT gear I was in college w/a very limited budget. I started my addiction on evilBay about 5 years ago picking up a componet here and there for at least half of retail sometimes at 1/8th the cost of new! This system is quite sorted and I'm pleased with both the sound quality (esp 2-channel) and the relatively small dent in my bank account.

I designed and built the stand myself using hardwood, glass, and MDF. I used two 12v computer fans for ventilation (there will be glass doors on the front and this gear gets quite warm) and 12v automotive LED's for back lighting the shelves which are powered via an AC/DC converter that is switched on/off by the line conditioner.

Dude, its nice to see someone put so much attention to detail when making a system. Nothing against others in this forum, but many (not all systems) are a nice looking components, and not much attention to hidding cables, furniture etc. You have done great job making your system look good. I cant comment on the components becuase I am not familiar with older Rotel, but im sure it sounds great. :T

That is an absolutely beautiful install. A true piece of craftsmanship from what I can see. Did you do the design on drafting/design software?

You might consider doing 'custom' as a profession, I’m sure some of the more monetarily advantaged out there would be very interested.

And don't be to quick to knock your 900 series gear, that is 'all' I have, but it still performs at a very high level, IMHO.

RPM, looks really good! I love those lighted shelves, that's what I'm going to do (at some point), I already have a 200watt silent power supply running 5 120mm fans for my system so I can keep the glass doors closed and it doesn't heat up inside (especially with the 1095/1080 in there... wow, hot!). I just need to get the glass shelving and LEDs to plug into the computer PSU and I'm all set!

One suggestion I do have though, it looks like everything is really close to the front wall... Have you tried moving your speakers out about 3 or 4 feet (since it looks like you'd have the cable length and trying that out!? I'd bet the imagine and soundstage would really grow and sound really good if you bring those speakers out more! Just a suggestion (since it looks like that'd be a quick and simple thing).

                              Thanks for the positive feedback!

wkhanna: Yes I designed the stand using SolidWorks 2k4.
pewterT/A: I just got this put together so I haven't played around with speaker placements very much but I will try what you suggested.

I'm new, so first of all, - hi everyone

                                My setup conists of:

                                RCD02
                                RA03
                                B&W DM602S3
                                with QED Cables all round

As i'm a uni student in the uk, and I spend all the money I make from design work on technology (note the mac, screen etc! ) I can't afford a proper hifi rack yet, so my rotel kit is nestled on top of an ikea cabinet I know placement isn't ideal either, but my cable runs are quite short, and my bed lines up directly with this setup

Everyone's systems look really nice - something to aspire to.

I really love the sound of my system, even though its only a few days old and yet to be put through its paces.

                                Best wishes to all

Your system is clean and hi-end. Reminds me of mine.. . I like how you have a real speaker system hooked up to your pc. Great setup.

                                      Hey guys,

                                      Thanks for the positive feedback

A quick question- it seems as if the sound balance is somehow off - the sound from the right speaker seems louder that the left :S

Could this be because there is a bare wall next to the right speaker, but wardrobes and a bookshelf on the left?

                                      Cheers

BTW Joey what's your system I? Ah, now I see the signature. I'm also considering upgrading my G5s stock sound - does anyone have any experience here? I was looking at an M-Audio audiophile.

Here's my setup. Still wanting to add a stereo power amp or monobloc's to drive the fronts. RB1090 is the frontrunner atm.

I posted a couple pictures on the B&W forum when this set up wasnt quite done. Now with the PV1 and the custom table for the center chanel its complete. Since it has rotel as part of it I thought I would put the finished product here.

It will make a HUGE difference in your imaging. You really are missing out oh quite a lot that the 602s can offer in the position you currently have them. Course WAF is always an issue.

But even as a quick test I'd bring them out and center them in the room more and you should notice a huge sound stage change.

It does look good though, I love the sound the 602s provide for their price. They are tops in term of price vs. sq!
