    Pictures of your B&W Set-up

    Hi,

One of the most popular threads in Club Rotel is an area where members can post pictures of their Rotel equipment...
I thought - why not  join the party in our own club!
So let’s use this thread to post pictures of any aspect of your B&W setups that you've all invested so much energy in! Some examples might be:
    • Full front set-ups
    • Stands
    • Wall mounts
    • Speaker Placement
    • Center Channel Placement
    • Room layout
    • Maybe even (blush) your racks....

And let’s make sure we include all models out there, LM, 300 series, 600 series etc. Don't be shy - every set-up is interesting!
    Happy posting!

    Geoff

Well, I don't have any pics on hand to post here directly, but here is a link to a gallery I set up a while back (on another forum). This is my dedicated theater/listening room, which we have dubbed "The Loft Theater" because it is an upstairs room that is partly open to the great room below.

Great looking set up guys. Dr Boom - what are you using under the 804's - they could be just what I am looking for.

Here are some blurry pics of my set up consisting of 804's, HTM1 and an ASW850. I clearly need a tripod !

And here are a couple of pics (with sofas!) of the M&K columns surrounds I am using. I did try the Nautilus rears but didnt get on with them.

Wow, amazing set Rags, I think that's the first time I've seen yours posted here.
Even your cabinets match your speakers
Is that the Pioneer PDP434 or 504 you have there ?
Best plasmascreen on the market today in my opinion.
The only thing I hate are the non-matching side speakers, what on earth were they thinking at Pioneer when they made silver speakers for a black plasma ? 8O
But at least they learned from their mistake and now they have black glossy speakers for their new line.

To answer your question, the things under my 804's and ASW650 are Soundcare Superspikes.
If you don't know it, it's a spike with a disc attached to it in 1 housing so you don't have to mess around with those loose discs if you want to move the speakers.
For B&W speakers you need to get the 6mm threaded spikes, they're a perfect fit.
I find it to be the perfect solution if you want to use spikes, but need a disc under them to protect the floor.
They work great, look good too and are easy to install and level.
There's a patch of felt underneath them too, so you can just slide the speaker around if you want to move it for some reason.
They won't move on their own though, so don't worry you'll find your speaker at the other end of the room after the movie's over

Thanks Dr Boom. Thats a 504HDE and with HDMI it does offer a very good picture. Your right about the silver speakers but I needed them for everyday use. You can also place them at the bottom of the panel if required.

I looked at the website and am going to order the standard model - looks like exactly what I was looking for. Going to stay well away from the Titanium extreme version at over $2000 for a set of 4 spikes !!!!

I have the standard version too, I'm not going to pay extra for the looks of the "gold" version alone.
And the titanium is $2000 for 3 spikes if I'm not mistaking, not 4

Standard steel for me as well mate. I dont like gold anyway.

Now if only I could have a set of the new diamonds sitting there next to my cabinets !!!

If you want diamonds then you'll have to go for at least the 803D, which is €8000.
Then you need the matching HTM2D centerchannel, which is another €4000.
So I'll believe i'll pass on the diamonds, maybe the S range at one time, but for now I'll stick with my good old "plain" 804's.
I'm done with upgrading for a few months at least, trying to save some money.
Although I still would like a new DVD player, and maybe a better CD player, and a better processor, and a subwoofer, and a larger centerspeaker, and ... :B

To attach thumnails they must be bigger than 100Kb in size each.

                            1) Create or edit the post you want to attach the thumnails too.
                            2) Use the <Manage Attachments> button to bring up the dialogue box for managing attachments.
                            3) Use the <Browse> button from this to select the file you want to attach, THEN
                            4) Use the <Upload> button to actually upload the thumbnail.
                            5) Repeat steps (3) and (4) as needed to attach multiple thumbnails.

You can also create links to your own web site if you have one by using the I-M-G tags...

                            I hope this helps!

So wheres all the other pics ? Cmon lads !

The cabinets I am using match the veneer on the speakers purely by fluke. They are made by a company called Arca which went bust/stopped doing business recently (or something like that). They retailed for about $1000 each but I got three of them real cheap through a dealer offloading some ex dem ones once Arca stopped supplying them. They have very good build quality and are finished just as well as the speakers.

I'm not having much luck uploading pictures. They are jpeg files at about 1/3 MB. The upload tool says it's too big. Hopefully someone will help me out.

Follow up.....I think I've figured it out. Hopefully some pictures soon.

It takes some time, but just keep shrinking and cropping the picture untill it reaches 100kb. (lowering the pixels/cm also helps)

I picked up the usb cable we were missing to upload pics to the PC. I have to clean up before I can take some pics though. Might be next week sometime before I can post my pics.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

Thanks, Geoff. Nice stuff, you guys. Bryan, we have the same front trio.

Everyone, I would like to suggest that if you can, move your speakers away from the walls.

How far from the walls? What effect will this have?

What about things to the sides of the speakers? i.e. TV's, audioracks, etc..

Usually, best is a few feet from the walls, but of course, we can't always do that. Taking them away from the walls will reduce reflections that can blur/muddy up the sound. TVs, audio racks, even your coffee table, will bounce sound around. Anyway, since this is a photo thread, i'll keep it that.

                                                          Nice setups everyone.

I posted these pics on the Club Rotel show and tell thread:

A rack of Rotel Gear is one of the most stylish looking racks in my mind... There is something about the distinctive look of the silver on black that elicits a stylish, yet purposefull look. If you can, please post pictures of your racks just to inspire me.. Thanks!

PS - I'd go for the 705s over the DS7s if you can get any reasonable distance from them - the DS7s bipole don't have great frequency response or sound making the direct mode a better choice (as a tweeter) and therefore waisting the extra $

But in my dreamworld I'm gonna have 800's and move the 802's for rear. So it would be very nice to hear some A-B comments about 800 - 802 from you, after all you got them both in the same room with the same electronics. How much better bass response is there in the 800's? Do they play louder? I really love my 802's, but I'm used to big 15" woofers and to be honest you just dont get it all with the 802's. Anyway, nice to see someone with 800's in the forum, dont see that too much, some 801's would be nice as well.

PS. Hey Dr Boom, amazing that you spent all that money on your sound and so little on the display! ...like you I had a 24" telly until about 6 months ago, and moving to a projector has made all the difference - they say that 80% of the experience is visual, and I would go with that...you gotta get yourself a bigger screen before anything else IMO

In case you can't tell, that room is 4x3m, and it's not exactly empty either.
First I'm saving to buy a car, so HT related expenses will be at an absolute minimum over the coming period.
Then I'd like to move out of here sometime in the next few years as well, so that's going to eat up what's left of my money after I've bought a car. (cars are expensive here, not like in the US where you almost get 2 for the price of 1 )

I still did not get the chance to optimize my center channel placement (that SONY TV is just too dang heavy to move :B ). I am moving to a new apartment in a few months, will put the center channel in a more optimal location when I upgrade my TV (planning to hang a plasma on the wall and place the center right below it :T).

(cars are expensive here, not like in the US where you almost get 2 for the price of 1 )
That TV is sure going to have to last me some time.

I am moving to a new apartment in a few months, will put the center channel in a more optimal location when I upgrade my TV (planning to hang a plasma on the wall and place the center right below it :T).

Nice setup you have there (close to my own )! Your center placement doesn't seem that bad to me, but for the time being you could 'tilt' it a bit. Especially since the bottom of your table is currently blocking and/or reflecting the sound.

                                                                                          Good luck!
