break-in period?

hi all, i recently picked up an rmb1095 and i absolutely love it. it sits in an enclosed rack with about 2'' of space on the sides, open in front and back, but less than an 1'' of space on top. does it need more space than this to keep from overheating? i'm using fairly efficient speakers (def tech bp2000tl). also what is the average length of the break in period?

Hi,

Re the more space - this will depend on how good the front and back ventilation is (your should never close the RMB-1095 in totally). Bottom line - run it for a hour or so at normal levels then touch the heat sinks on the side (not the front they are for show). If they are warm - fine - but if they are hot - you need more ventilation - try a small PC fan running on low speed.

Re the break in period - most people find the amp gets significantly better after 15-20 hours use - some have a sudden improvement after a longer period (1 to 4 weeks). Leaving it on helps.

The front heatsink is for the center channel. Most workout during movies is the center channel, thus the bigger heatsink in front.
