    rsp1068 popping....

I have a problem with the 1068 that was supposed to be fixed.

It is popping, when I skip tracks or enter a menu on DVD.

I am wondering if any other rsp-1068/dvd-2900 (or 2200) experience the same problem. I have it connected via digital COAX.

I know the 1066 had this problem, but when I had one at home I cannot remember it popping as loud as my 1068. I happens when it loses signal temporarily. Like pressing "next" when playing a DVD.

what happens if you remove all the other components connected to the 1068 except the DVD player? Also have you tried an optical connection instead of the coax?

I will try optical, but I have it connected COAX because of the better way to connect digital. I won't go back to optical.

My Xbox is connected optical, I will try it out that way.

Isn't this popping a function of Rotels' auto source/sound parameter detect?

It would seem when ever the audio signal is lost for a moment, such as fast forwards, track skips, pause... this will occur because the Rotel will re establish (detect) the audio signal again..

I don't think using either the optical or Coax will not solve it as it seems to be a function of how the DSP operates.

I know mine certainly pops everytime I Fast Forward, Skip, pause..etc.

            Optical vs Coax
            by orangebull
Is optical or coax suspose to be better for digital audio connections?

I am connecting a Denon 2900 CD/DVD player and a dish network receiver to my 1098 via the digital inputs.

I also use the multi-inpu/output from the Denon.

            thanks, OB

Regarding the quality of optical digital transmissions
            by Amphiprion
Previously on this forum there was a discussion regarding optical vs. coaxial digital interconnects. I personally favor optical for the isolation factor, but there was some discussion as to whether cheap optical receivers/transmitters could cause errors.

I had the pleasure this last week...

            Hey Guys-

I have a JVC HM-DH30000H D-VHS VCR on Video 4 connected via component video 4, optical audio 2, and the analog audio/video 4 inputs. Everything works as expected when playing D-Theater HDTV video tapes (except for no video on the 1098 screen). The JVC will not pass an analog...

Help getting ready for new Disc Players
            by timetohunt
I am still only a few months into the hobby.

I am looking to upgrade my situation for playing discs, my collection is largely red book cds, but I also have lots of concert DVDs, a few DVD-As, SACDs, and HDCD encoded CDs.

So, my first thought was upgrade to a better universal...

Interested in a 1056 but only 2 optical inputs?
            by TTA89
I was just looking at a picture of the back panel and I didn't even think to look at this. I am currently using 4 but could switch a few over to coax but its more of a pain to try and hide.

Currenty these are connected over optical cables.
