Does RSP-1068 support 176 kHz dig. in ?

I'm one of the first Norwegian RSP 1068 owners :T

Got the box in last nigth, and has only 1,5 hours of use so far. The firs thing I tried to was to connect my Phillips 963 SA to the dig.in on 1068, with upsampling enabled. But the sound was terribe and the 1068 display says 192 kHz.

Does not 1068 support this ?

Yes, the 1068 does support 192Khz. There are several 963SA owners in this formum. I actually tried one myself but eventaully got Denons 2900.

The best way however is to use the analogue input. This gives the best result . You need a analogue connection anayway for SACD. And the 5.1 input on the 1068 has passtrough capabilities.

I did like the 963SA. It only has a few flaws:
          • It cannot play DVD-A
It uses a cheaper video chipset for non component/progressive connections
It runs hot, and therefore some users reported reliability problems

In holland you can get a vdmeedevoort modification, which brings is above the level of their SACD1000. See www.audioart.nl.

In all it is a nice player, but Denons 2200 is also a nice options.

And I believe the 963 is End of Life.

            Yes, It migth.

But I uses it with a firmware that sends out RBG on the component RCA's to my Barco 1208s/2. It's a very cheap Faroudja engine. So it's one of my two CD/DVD-players...

At least Philips has put some effort in producing an above avarage player. Its CD playback is very good for a DVD player.

The have not made any significant hifi-product for at least 10 years

It was said that the 1068 multi-ins have passthrough capability. This is true, but so do all of the analog inputs on that unit. There is a mode that can be selected, called analog bypass (I think  ), and can allow any analog input into the unit to be bypassed.

I'm not sure about the 1068 but my 1066 has a garbly sound when using the digital out of my 963sa and the upsample is set to 24/192.But when input though the multi channel analog inputs the display on the 1066 reads it as 192khz and it sounds great. :T

How's that possible ?, Rotel cannot 'see' the digital signal when analog input is used 8O 8O

Rotels will show the information from the last input you had playing when you switch to the multi-input. As such if you went from a digital 192 signal to the multi-in it would still show the 192 info. Just like if you're wathcing TV via DPLII it will still show that in multi-in mode...Personally, although it's a minor complaint, I wish they'd fix that

it sounds good when upsampling is set to 24/96 and running the digital out to the 1066.

Yes, I have experienced that too. Could it be that the S/PDIF is not specified for 192kHz ?
